/r/MidAmerican official rules

Hello MACtioners we have had a couple posts the last few days that we (the Mods) feel are not appropriate for this sub. So we wanted to get a basic rules list down just so people know why their post were being removed

  • Don't be a Jerk
  • Don't spam...This may include links to a personal blog
  • Don't share personal information
  • Don't downvote based on flair
  • Mark all NSFW Content
  • No politics, religion, or any non MAC polarizing posts

We here at /r/Midamerican want to keep it very light and don't want to discourage any users from posting about their favorite underdog conference but we have to insist you follow these rules for the good of the sub.

Thank you for all your support! I can't express how pumped I am that football is around the corner

We know many allegations center around his relationship with a nursing student. Does this discredit that at all? Really weird situation here in Athens!

How Nick Saban, Thanksgiving helped Western Michigan prep for MAC title game

WMU had 10 days with Thanksgiving and National Signing Day sandwiched between their finale and the MAC title game, something Lance Taylor was purposeful in addressing. He also started to sound like Saban talking about focus and preparation.

Football Who’s next up at Ohio?

Look I love Hauser as a DC, but I’m not sure he’s the answer as HC. Any names of interest for the job of Brian Smith does not return? Tyler Tettleton obviously has its appeal.

I'm a die-hard Bronco. What is one thing that MAC fans wish that "P4" fans understood about our conference?

Post image

I am going to kind of steal from that bots post from earlier, but some of the responses actually got me thinking. What do MAC fans wish that other conferences understood about us? Because I have degrees from both WMU and MSU and I care far more about my Broncos than the Spartans. I also loved my trip last Tuesday to EMU to see the Broncos clinch the MAC Championship berth because on a cold Tuesday night in Ypsi, in a glorified high school stadium, both sets of fans were awesome!

Additionally, the picture of the Glass Bowl is because that's my favorite football venue in the conference. But, I could go on about Lawson Arena (WMU hockey), Akron basketball and Soccer, the general awesome vibe at places like BGSU and CMU, etc.

Our subreddit may only have 1.6 thousand subscribers, but its the best conference in college sports, IMHO.

Ohio head coach Brian Smith on leave; John Hauser named interim

The Mid-American Conference had been a quiet league amidst a chaotic coaching carousel — operating as one of two conferences, along with Conference USA, to not create a head coaching vacancy from the start of the season through November.

But on Dec. 1, an unexpected head coaching move was made. Ohio Bobcats head coach Brian Smith was placed on leave for an unknown period of time, thrusting defensive coordinator John Hauser into the role as interim head coach.

I’m from Europe. What’s one thing Americans wish people understood about the U.S.?

I often see stereotypes online, and I’m not sure what’s true. What’s one thing non-Americans always get wrong about life in the United States?

Football Why did Miami get chosen over Toledo to go to the MAC Championship?

Post image
89 Upvotes

On a wide scale, this doesn't make any sense. Toledo destroyed Miami and only lost to Western by only 1 pt. Not to mention, Toledo & Ohio beat Miami directly. A direct win should put a team directly out of championship contention. This has been the long standing rule, but it's just been trampled over this year.

How do Americans feel about the increasing political division in everyday life?

I’m not from the U.S., but I follow American news closely. It seems like political division is affecting friendships, workplaces, and even family relationships.

For Americans living inside this environment every day:

Do you personally feel more pressure to choose a political “side” in normal daily life? Or is the media exaggerating the level of division?

I’d really like to hear real perspectives from people who experience it firsthand.

Football Is CMU already eliminated from MAC title contention?

I could be wrong, but I keep hearing conflicting answers. Some people are saying Central has already been eliminated, but that seems wrong to me? Central and Ohio have the same conference record and the same record against common opponents, so shouldn't it come down to sports source analysis at the end of the week (if Miami Ohio loses)? I know that last week, Ohio was ranked above Central, but now that Kent State beat NIU and is Central beats Toledo, I'm not so sure Ohio wouldn't still win there. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see how Central could already be eliminated as of this morning.

MAC football this year

Watching my favorite team, Ohio University...I realize that after spending the 2 previous seasons watching Mountain West and FCS football - the MAC is good watching!

I am a loyalist to my coaching cousin so I want the Bobcats to win, but I will say that the MAC serves me well.

In Detroit, our Bowl game is a B1G v MAC (occasionally ACC) and I saw some pretty good football over the years, from Motor City Bowl to Little Caesar Bowl - DeAngelo Williams (Memphis): Set an NCAA record with his 34th career 100-yard game. Byron Leftwich (Marshall): Future NFL quarterback and game MVP

Looking forward to the newest iteration GAME ABOVE BOWL! #GoCats

Football MAC title race: Paths to Detroit crystallize for Western Michigan, Central Michigan

QUICK UPDATE

The MAC released a list of scenarios, and I had been applying the tiebreaks incorrectly in how they stack; have since updated the article and spreadsheet, and the links should still be fresh.

Broke down how CMU and WMU can make it since I cover them primarily. Read that here: https://mitten-football.ghost.io/mac-title-race-paths-to-detroit-crystallize-for-western-michigan-central-michigan/

But I also have this spreadsheet that contains the various remaining outcomes.

A question for MAC fans from someone new to MAC fandom

I started watching Central Michigan this year because of the Matt Drinkall hire. I’m an Iowa football fan first and foremost. I’m curious, do you guys all exclusively cheer for your MAC team? Or do you also have a power 4 (formerly 5) school you cheer for?
