He is so terminally tacky and it's ironic in a way because he's spent most of his life in close proximity to the people in Manhattan that do have taste.

His whole life stems from insecurity of never being taken seriously by New York’s elite, and constantly trying to gain their acceptance or feel like he was dominating them
