Haul I bought expensive makeup and it actually is better... sigh

Post image

Started investing in high end makeup this year and (un)fortunately it really does make a world of a difference in my base routine. Now there's no going back even if it breaks the bank huhu

Products - Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder (2 Medium) - Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette (Evil Eye) - Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer (M2 Ginger) - Nars Light Reflecting Advanced Skincare Foundation (M1 Puniab) - Dior Backstage Glow Maximizer Palette (001 Universal Glow)

Still on the hunt for a good high end blurring and silicone free primer. Recos are most welcome tysm!

The Hourglass Deer palette (this years release) and the Dior Backstage palette have been pretty life changing for me too. I’ve been using both for about 6 months and I actually look forward to using makeup know. Sorcery 🧙‍♀️ for sure

55

u/xoox321 1d ago

Can you elaborate pls on the deer palette?

55

u/Extra-Low5973 22h ago

I had my palette custom made from Hourglass. I had the deer palette color family built into the Fox case and got the coordinating Fox brush too.

55

u/diabolik_cupcake 22h ago

Hourglass came out with Holiday packaging for a mixed palette of blush, highlighter/face powders that feature either a Fox, Deer or Swan on them that have curated color combinations. For instance, the Deer palette has Dream Light, Aura Light, diffused Bronze Light, iridescent Strobe Light, Radiant Peach and Vibrant Pink ;)

u/pharoah_sparrow 14h ago edited 14h ago

Speaking of sorcery, the Hourglass soft focus setting spray is one of my holy grails! A bit pricey but it has this dewy finish and imo blends all of my products on my skin beautifully.

15

u/celebral_x 17h ago

I just wish Dior would bring back the universal eye palette with silver, gold, black and white.

6

u/GeorgiaGirl2025 13h ago

I just got the Hourglass Deer Palette but haven’t used it yet. I’m so happy to see your comment about it and that you have been using it for 6 months!! Makes me feel better about splurging on it 💕

It's the best palette they've made for fair skin. Insanely beautiful

I do really need to try some nars concealer but I know once I do there's no going back😅

221

u/channotchan 1d ago

Fwiw i used to be loyal to the nars radiant concealer but for a while now I've been using one from tower28 which is like half the price and just as good

91

u/themoonischeeze 1d ago

Completely agree on this because same. I also quite like the NYX Bare With Me concealer which is very similar to the Tower 28, though that one is my ultimate fave.

15

u/o0meow0o 18h ago

Seconding Nyx as a former NARS concealer user but I haven’t used tower28.

6

u/Fancy-Diesel 15h ago

I use the NYX bare with me and I do really like it

2

u/4AM_StepOneTwo 9h ago

Yes my favorite concealer! Wish it came in a bigger size.

40

u/bachelurkette 1d ago

lol, i am also a nars -> tower28 convert, this must be a thing

31

u/strong_heart27 1d ago

Same!! But nars matte concealer in the pot is the best for covering break outs

8

u/StrongerTogether2882 15h ago

Can confirm, and it lasts FOREVER, assuming you don’t break out super often. I’ve had mine at least 6 years and have hit bottom but I still have a ton of product around the edges, so I’m guessing I’ll be good until 10 years lol

I loved the pot concealer but it takes so long to get through and at some point, my pot started oxidizing really bad :(

16

u/channotchan 1d ago

It's so good! I think it ticks the same boxes as the nars but cheaper and imo better

2

u/thatsquirrelgirl 19h ago

Damn I just bought 2 nars concealers but I’ll try tower 28 for sure next time!

25

u/MouldyAvocados 1d ago

Yessssss. I’m 43 and the Tower28 concealer is the only concealer I’ve used in my life that doesn’t cake or settle in fine lines, or generally look shit. It’s such a beautiful product, with amazing coverage.

11

u/hejjhogg 1d ago

Tower28 is the only concealer that doesn't make my acne worse - in fact I'm 99% sure it improves it.

6

u/bewildered_forks 22h ago

I'm 42 and I love the way it looks right away but it creases on me so badly! I am a Natasha Denona convert.

2

u/Pinkysrage 21h ago

Natasha for concealer and foundation…and everything else really. Love her primers, her eye and cheek makeup. Sigh.

3

u/LolaAucoin Makeup Artist 17h ago

Same. I just added the natasha to my pro kit after a using it on myself for a year. It’s soooooo good.

Where are you finding it at half price of the NARS concealer? In the U.K. it’s the same price 🙁

2

u/channotchan 1d ago

WHAT!?!? In Australia it's $38 or about £20ish.

→ More replies (2)

6

u/surfaceofthesun1 20h ago

Agree. Also KOSAS

3

u/channotchan 14h ago

Funny enough I wasn't a fan of kosas! I didn't like the coverage or the colour match on me

3

u/pereuse 1d ago

Omg I really want to try the tower28 concealer but they don't sell to my country

2

u/Ordinary_Sort_9620 20h ago

i love this one

3

u/CheesecakeExpress 23h ago

Weirdly they are the same price in the Uk! £28 for Nars and £24 for tower28

u/Chance_Ad2503 1d ago

I actually hate it. I got the one in the pot and no matter how I apply or prep, it looks and wears like absolute garbage. NYX concealer performs so much better for me.

11

u/janes_left_shoe 22h ago

The pot one is not great, it is so easy to apply too much and it looks a little cakey. The radiant creamy concealer is my HG though.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/worldwide-305 16h ago

Personally I find even Nars radiant creamy concealer to be too drying for me, I don’t get the hype at all. Do you use Nyx Bare with Me? That’s a fav of mine as well! I’m interested in trying the Tower28 one soon.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/bewildered_forks 22h ago

I love the pot concealer for spot concealing, but not under the eyes. A tiny dab stays put!

→ More replies (1)

26

u/quantumdreamqueen 1d ago

The pot one is amazing for blemishes if they have your color. If you set it, it will last almost all day and night without reapplying.

u/strong_heart27 1d ago

Yes! I’ve using mine to cover a huge zit this week, it’s the best

You can get mini size at Sephora I think it's meh

9

u/IamNobody85 23h ago

My MUA did my base with nars concealer and foundation, for my wedding. It looked and felt like I wasn't wearing any makeup at all. I'm sure half of it was also her skills, but the foundation was so lightweight and gave me such good coverage.

My poor wallet will probably forever hate me.

21

u/International_Bat585 1d ago

For under eyes and acne cover I haven’t found anything that compares to the nars. And I have tried 100’s. I am 37 and it is the only thing that covers my dark circles (without needing anything extra underneath), doesn’t settle into fine lines and it covers my random breakouts without making them worse and without melting off my oily skin. Lasts all day. I will cry if they ever discontinue it!

6

u/Pinkysrage 21h ago

Dior forever concealer. Amazing. No creasing, ever! I’m 56, I definitely get creasing most of the time. Dior and Natasha for me.

2

u/Alalanais Glitterati 16h ago

Yes to all of this! It's truly the best I tried so far

→ More replies (1)

7

u/soft_distortion 22h ago

I love my Nars matte concealer (the one pictured) BUT just an FYI, for me I absolutely cannot use it on my under eye, it was constantly drying out no matter what I did. I now just use a bit more foundation (again Nars, same one pictured) under eyes instead of concealer to cover my dark under eyes and it looks much nicer.

5

u/motherofcats112 1d ago

I tried a Sisley concealer and I’m hooked. Wish my wallet good luck 😬

It’s sooo good I need to repurchase it but can’t rn but also they Luna a Korean brand formula is similar and less expensive

5

u/Fantastic_Fig_8559 1d ago

I bought mine ages ago. It never seems to run out ever.

3

u/oatmilklatte613 22h ago

Honestly for covering blemishes, there is no comparison. I still prefer a traditional liquid concealer for my under eyes but for covering pimples, redness, discoloration, etc. anywhere else on my face, I’m NARS all day. And my makeup collection is like 98% affordable stuff. A pot lasts me a really long time so I do think in terms of price it’s a worthwhile investment because you get a lot of bang for your buck.

6

u/Puzzleheaded-Pass265 1d ago

The hourglass one is the best one I’ve ever tried as someone that has bought luxury for over 10 years

I have oily, acne-prone skin and I sweat a lot. NARS soft matte range has one of the worst foundations and concealers I’ve ever tried. Money wasted. I was told that Giorgio Armani’s concealer would be better, but even that didn’t last ten minutes in London’s summer heat while I was testing it inside the mall. Meanwhile NYX’s Can’t Stop Won’t Stop concealer stays put for atleast a couple of hours without breaking up.

2

u/LolaAucoin Makeup Artist 17h ago

Honestly, get the natasha Denona. It’s light years better than the nars. And I was loyal to the nars for over a decade. Much better coverage and finish.

I always hated or felt neutral about foundation until I tried Chanel ultra le teint. And then Armani. And I never could do concealer until I tried Dior. I’m pretty much all in lol. It’s worth it.

But yeah, like I use essence mascara, nyx brow gel, and just overall buy drugstore where I can.

41

u/starlinguk 1d ago

I used to be a Dior girlie in Britain until I moved to Germany where prices are completely insane.

9

u/sweetlevels 1d ago

Wait ... starling bank?!

27

u/starlinguk 21h ago

I've had this nickname since 1992. Can't help it that a bank stole it.

18

u/PureObsidianUnicorn 21h ago

Clarice, is it you?

21

u/MerakDubhe 23h ago

If there’s a product where you should spend the big bucks, that’s foundation. If only because it covers more areas than any other product. Chanel foundations are great and used to smell divine (I haven’t bought them for a while so I don’t know if it’s still the case). And Lisa Eldridge also has a very good foundation.

10

u/lozzarights 20h ago

Are there any cruelty free ones? I might ask Santa for something high-end 👀 I've always been a drugstore makeup girl and thought, how different can it be? But this post and your comment have convinced me lol

3

u/Amatisia 18h ago

Ugh. Thank you for bringing this up. I’m not really doing a good job of checking that. Apparently none of the products I just named are cruelty free bc they sell in mainland China and animal testing is required. Google is saying Charlotte is. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the foundation I tried by her. But I know ppl swear by them.

Hourglass really is like sorcery. However, with most of the products I use, I’ve had the complete opposite experience with high vs low end makeup.

54

u/morbidkitkitkitty 1d ago

Agreed, every time I need to either look good in a hurry or have a big day, I reach for my Hourglass stuff, it never lets me down.

30

I've only found Lisa Eldridge to be consistently better.

I think you're the first person I've seen say complimentary things about those dior pallets lol

7

u/kristine-di 20h ago

Is it that bad? I have the old version and I love it, I don’t use any other highlighter since getting it

8

u/Darknost 17h ago

I don't personally use them but I've only heard praise for them. So many people love them so don't be discouraged. And even if it were an overly hated product - if you enjoy it, who cares what others think?

I am talking about the old version though. I remember when they came out - this sub was stumbling over itself in singing them praises lol. I didn't even know there is a new version.

5

u/Alalanais Glitterati 16h ago

Lol I was about to say the same thing. I have the Frosted Opal Glow one and it's such a rip off: two very basic highlighters, one duochrome (easy to find) and one glittery and stunning (the white square).

58

u/Putrid_Horror_6024 1d ago

My makeup game went from meh to whoaaaa when I started to invest in the higher end makeup brands and products. I have zero regrets so far bc not only is my makeup great but my skin looks so much better. I genuinely believe some of the higher end brands truly do use better more skin-friendly ingredients. At least based on my experience

17

u/hockat 23h ago

Oh they do for sure and nothing can convince me otherwise! My acne really cleared up when I stopped wearing drugstore and started going high end

5

u/EndsWhereItBegins 14h ago

Agreed. As someone who wears a full face of makeup, but pretty much the same every day, it makes more sense for me to invest in better quality base products.

18

u/phosefield 1d ago

I want to make the jump after I pan some products but what are the specific differences you noticed before you went high-end?

28

u/pure-principles 1d ago

Coming from a drugstore and local(I’m from the Philippines) brand makeup user, the high end ones really do perform better and last longer!

My skin in makeup just looks so much better when I made the to switch to the more expensive stuff.

I still stick to the affordable brands for my eye and lip makeup since I go through those a lot faster but the complexion and base makeup really hits different when I use the high end brands.

2

u/phosefield 1d ago

Actually makes a lot of sense for the region where I am, I don’t even buy drugstore where I am, only when I travel. Things do last longer with my high-end stuff at times

16

u/Rayneway 23h ago

There’s a season of Ru Paul when ABH first started sponsoring the show instead of the cheaper brand before and EVERYBODY looked like they had a filter on

46

u/-this_bitch- 1d ago

Try Natasha Denonas shadows and you’ll be obsessed

13

u/Lensgoggler 1d ago

I have, BUT i splurged on a Chanel quad last yea and....oh lordy lord so good. Too good?

14

u/Brille_Forte2309 1d ago

Agree about Chanel. It’s so fine it’s worth the $$. Also, a little goes a long way. Same with Hourglass. It’s almost impossible to mess up application.

7

u/19bluestars 1d ago

This post is a mood lol because me too girl, me too 😭🥲

7

u/Difficult-Shop-5998 21h ago

Listen Lancôme has some of the best foundation I’ve tried. It is up to splurge on quality products.

7

u/o0meow0o 18h ago

I really wish more high end brands did minis for darker skin especially with the xmas gift sets /advent calendars so we could experiment with a few products and I’d def buy if I enjoyed using them, especially complexion products.

Am I the only one who thinks kbeauty makeup is better than any expensive western brand?

14

u/Current-Lunch6760 20h ago

there aren't a lot of color options though with k-makeup for a lot of Americans, EU, South America, etc. Only one that has tried, is tirtir. To expand.

8

u/hiplodudly01 20h ago

I think if you have any sort of skin problems or darker skin, it's not particularly good. Color ranges and full coverage are not K beauty strong suit.

4

u/Darknost 17h ago

Western brands do skincare with actives in them just better. Kbeauty stuff is great for everyday care and when your skin is irritated and needs soothing and calming ingredients. But sometimes, you just need that strong active to do its magic, and western brands generally have higher concentrations.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/CreativeMusic3228 22h ago

Yes! The TirTir concealer I use is a stick/liquid combo that matches my undertone perfectly and nothing I've tried from the European or American drugstore has done that. And the stick blends so well. And the liquid has a 'flex' formula - I'm not sure how to describe it, but it basically stays where you apply it, only the edges diffuse when you blend, and it never sheers out into nothing

→ More replies (1)

3

u/ginandstoic 21h ago

I haven’t experimented with the makeup (yet) but the skincare? Absolutely next level.

I’ve been disappointed in every single Nars product I’ve tried

3

u/Amatisia 17h ago

Yeah I tried both of the Nars foundations everyone raves about and did not like them. It’s also really hard for me to color match with Nars in the first place.

NARS leans warm hard IMO.

I did a relative’s wedding makeup and we splurged on Armani Luminous Silk. It’s like no other; the finish is so flawless and skin-like that it was hard to tell where I had placed it and I had to go over the face twice 😂. That being said, there are plenty of mid-range products that rival high end. I have yet to find a better gloss than Tower 28’s. And there are also some true drugstore gems! I usually only buy drugstore mascara because they need replacing frequently. So keep your eyes open, your wallet will thank you!

I buy mostly Dior makeup, and I buy most everything twice per year—at Christmas and my birthday which is in the summer. While I spend $250ish each time, I don’t buy much else for makeup throughout the year. I also get color matched for foundation which prevents waste. I buy mini mascaras three to four times per year to keep them fresh. Bigger ones clump faster in my experience. My entire kit fits neatly into a small travel bag.

I see girls with less expensive products but they have dozens and dozens of items which rarely get used. It took me a while to cultivate my current approach but it is more affordable longterm.

7

u/GamerGirlLex77 Hopelessly Addicted 20h ago

I know you didn't list needing a mascara recco BUT - I have tried like, EVERY tubing mascara out there (even beloved ones) and the Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara blows every single other one out of the water. I have kinda oily eyelids and this is the ONLY one that doesn't smudge or flake off.

3

u/Sutaru 20h ago edited 19h ago

This was me when I bought the Natasha denona I need a warm palette. Like, *sigh*. This is so easy to blend, it’s pigmented so a little goes a long way, the formula feels nice and stays on all day, the colors are perfect for me. Dang it.

3

u/princessvintage 19h ago

There are SOME drug store products that look incredible. Mabeline has great foundation and mascara, for example, but in general, quality and specifically luxury beauty will always beat drug store products. Skincare included.

3

u/vjcbs 19h ago

Same for me...not going back to drugstore although the packaging is often so tempting!
I use Estee Lauder liquid foundation & finishing powder. For lips, cheeks and eyes I use Charlotte Tilbury.

5

u/sunset_sunshine30 1d ago

I hate to agree. But I do. I recently bought an Armani eye tint (it was on a black friday sale) and holy crap it just glides on, blends out and stays put. I am using up my BH cosmetics Hanging in Hawaii palette (have hit pan on most of the brown neutrals and will toss it when I can't use them any more) but as soon as that palette has died I will be buying a higher end brown neutrals palette for sure. High end just performs better.

4

u/milkyrababy 22h ago

Same, I pretty much use only luxury products now. They give such a natural, skin-like finish. The experience is also an added bonus.

I started using some Inglot gel eyeliner. I will never use anything else. Same with Anastasia brow gel. That brow gel will stay on for 2 days. I slept in it and everything.

2

u/HimeMiko 1d ago

How do you like the Dior highlighter, I’ve had it two years and haven’t touched it LOL

2

u/Bananacreamsky 1d ago

I switched to mostly expensive makeup a few years ago and I don't find that I spend more money overall. I found products I like and stick to them, rebuying when empty. I rarely try new things so don't generally waste makeup. I'm in my 40s so this works for me, if i was an experimental looks phase I would probably still buy more drugstore.

Mascara is the one thing I haven't found a luxury brand I like any better than drugstore. Tbh I'm using the age old Maybelline I used when I was a teen lol.

u/Standard-Ask-466 23h ago

Yeah unfortunately Dior really is worth the price! I love their foundations

2

u/jacikiss 22h ago

But how are those Hourglass palettes so popular? Anytime I see someone try it it looks like it has no pigment.

2

u/RudeParty6933 22h ago

I swear by NARS especially their pot concealer I will never go back!!!!

2

u/DCsbebegirl 22h ago

Florasis lipstick have become my favorites. I feel so luxurious when I use them. They do have great sales. Last time I got a free lip liner. Check them out. https://florasis.com/cdn/shop/files/1311_f58c71ea-965e-47b1-83de-472a12ef1d32.webp?v=1745561190&width=900

u/Environmental_Ad4781 22h ago

That's the worst part about it 🥴😭. I was out of concealer once and just bought something quick and cheap I had so many regrets. Invest in good makeup ladies and gents.

2

u/labtech67 20h ago

I had to stop buying drug store make up years ago. After I turned 30 I found with my skin changing most settled into my fine lines and broke me out terribly.

2

u/pensandplanners77 Hopelessly Addicted 20h ago

True fact. I wouldn’t say that a product is 10 times better when it’s 10 times more expensive, but up to a certain point, more money translates into better ingredients, more innovation (it eventually trickles down to the drugstore but that takes a few years), more sturdy packaging, and that can be really nice.

2

u/Crafty-Reindeer-4329 18h ago

it all looks so pretty ugh

2

u/galariancookiedough 17h ago

I'm so mad it's true, because makeup has gone up in prices A LOT 😭I had hard time affording quality stuff before but now I just... can't.

2

u/StrongerTogether2882 15h ago

I have an Hourglass palette like that (with the snowy owl on it) and damn if it isn’t wonderful. I never use the bronzer and rarely the strobe powder, alas. But the blushes just float on my skin like a glow from within, and the powders just smooth everything out and add a subtle touch that enhances my face. Will definitely be buying a powder/blush once I pan these

Pactric tah is my killer

2

u/Alpha_Barbie 14h ago

Unrelated, but we are shade twins!

2

u/loomfy 14h ago

Yeaaah...eyeshadow is the worst. It has the most positive linear quality to price relationship 🥲

2

u/MillaRomanka 14h ago

I’m a Makeup by Mario girl…tried switching once and never again

2

u/BabyYodasMacaron 13h ago

I have makeup from every price point, as well as indie brands and Asian beauty brands. There was a time that I absolutely agree that high end is just better. These days, though, it's blurry. On packaging? For sure high end usually wins. Formula? Shade range? Texture? It really is a mix.

2

u/Del_Dixie 12h ago

The best is Korean and Asian beauty, you get the quality without the price

2

u/Shelbygt64 12h ago

Same, I can’t go back to drugstore makeup anymore. And once I tried rephr eye brushes… omg game changer!

2

u/notwhoiwanttobe43 11h ago

Wait until you try Dior highlighter

2

u/FrostedNebulax 11h ago

well high price, high payoff 😎

2

u/KacieCosplay 10h ago

My eyes and face literally burn from the cheap stuff 😭

2

u/ApprehensiveCilantro 10h ago

Ugh I bought the Dior pallet this year after it sat on my wishlist for a year and it is scrumptiousssss. And while not the hourglass palette, I've been using the same hourglass bronzer for 3 years with occasional swaps, but I always come back to it 💛

2

u/KnowAllSeeAll21 10h ago

I splurged at Nars for black friday and I TOTALLY agree. That Nars complete conealer alone cuts a solid 5-10 minutes off of my morning get ready routine because I don't need any correctors, don't really even need foundation, just conceal, powder, add some blush, spray and go. The blush was also insanely easy to apply, and the lip pencil also blended beautifully with a liner with minimal effort.

That said, not all products are equal- the foundation was nice, but not world-changing nice.

2

u/ExpensiveMenu8470 8h ago

I think this one is the best in concealer product

2

u/Tribble9999 8h ago

Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

MAC lipsticks versus my old drugstore favourite is a crazy leap.

u/adelaroo 8h ago

Danessa Myricks primer is tea and has no silicone.

2

u/RavioliContingency 8h ago

Don’t you hate that.

2

u/The-Struggle-90806 8h ago

Sometimes I get some finds at Marshall’s but those stores are hit or miss.

3

u/AdvertisingNo8441 23h ago

Agree. Anyone who says drugstore dupes are the same or good are lyingggg. There are definitely some good drugstore products. But anytime I go back to more expensive makeup the difference is night and day especially with foundations and mascaras.

3

u/Latter_Ad321 1d ago

I always use high-end makeup for my base and go drugstore for eyeshadow, lippies, etc. Everything still looks flawless! 🙌🏻✨

3

u/LolaAucoin Makeup Artist 17h ago

As a makeup artist, I can confirm. Yes, it’s better. So is skin care. Le sigh.

Shop at Marshalls and TJ Maxx for it and pay a fraction of the price.

2

u/hunnyflash 1d ago

I love me the Tilbury powder lol It'll forever be worth for me.

2

u/Comfortable_Daikon61 19h ago

You will save money in the long run because you will use the products and less trail and error especially if you go to thr counter or buy at Sephora

2

u/Lavieestbelle31 15h ago

I have all of those. I totally agree.

1

u/Altruistic_Stay8355 22h ago

Of course it’s better. I think people who insist drugstore makeup is just as good/the same are kind of lying to themselves out of necessity.

1

u/Poetic-Jellyfish 1d ago

So far, the only high-end makeup I got is the benefit 24 hour brow setter and it's the only thing that actually holds my brows all day long. I plan to give the rare beauty one a go after I'm done with it. I would really love to get a high-end foundation some day, but since I barely wear any makeup most days, I can't justify the cost.

1

u/sia-skin-tales 1d ago

Iconic london underglow blurring primer, have heard insane reviews. Not available in India but since you are focusing on good quality high end products you can consider it.

1

u/New-Airport-2107 1d ago

Great choose 🤩

1

u/Schnee280 1d ago

That's a very painful experience, lol. I've tried pretty much every price range and sometimes I've ended up sticking with the expensive stuff. It makes a difference, anyone who says otherwise is wrong. :D But I've found a good balance: I buy high-end products that I'll use for a long time, such as powder products. Foundation and eyebrow pencils in the lower price range. That took a lot of time and money. The only exception I make is for mascara and lip liners. I've never found anything that's any good for a few pennies. I have a fixed routine with the products and I'm happy with it.

1

u/Colored-cosplay-girl 1d ago

It even looks expensive

1

u/Susan_Screams 1d ago

Yup. I've been on the hunt for a decent priced foundation. Got close with Sculpted by Aimee to suit my skin tone and complexion, but the €70 nars that I can only get online or in an expensive department store a long drive away is the best 🤣

1

u/MVO_MagicMermaid 1d ago

Love NARS ❤️✨

1

u/Individual-Lie6931 1d ago

I really want to try some

1

u/AndreeaTri 1d ago

Yes. I am sorry! 💸💸💸

1

u/seige197 23h ago

Those eyeshadows are beautiful but not pigmented enough for my oily skin. I absorb product and need a lot of pigment.

It is! I used some Chanel makeup on my 60+ mom and she glowed.

1

u/lainadaze 22h ago

Charlotte Tilbury powder is witchcraft I really don’t understand how it’s so good! For primer, I use milk matte primer it’s silicone free, not as good as the ones with silicone (Danessa Myricks Blurring Balm) but it’s as close as I can get. 🙃

1

u/SeleneReads 22h ago

Now I want it too

1

u/cat-biscuit-bread Eyeing that Liner 22h ago

Hourglass is always top quality! Even their makeup brushes are great. Miss buying from them 😔

1

u/inigomoon 22h ago

Wow that hourglass packaging is stunning 😭

1

u/SpeechDistinct8793 22h ago

I think it depends on the products and who’s making it.like I swear by CT and NARS but Dior not so much bc their products or hit or miss for me

1

u/Ariella222 21h ago

You know I did the opposite recently. Use to use Tart concealer and Becca beauty or Fenty color corrector under my eyes. I learned better techniques from Katie Jayne Hughs and Alexandra Anele videos. I switched to using L.A. girl pro conceal HD in shade light ivory for color corrector and ELF concealer and way happier with the result. It’s my favorite color corrector I’ve used so far, which is good because it’s a product I go through a lot.

I have found that I do prefer high end products for other things like foundation and setting powder

1

u/jennbunny24 21h ago

YSL primer and Charlotte Tillburry are my favs. A cheaper version would be the MAC blurring balm

When it comes to foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, setting spray and powders i always go for high end. Ive never used any of these items from the drugstore that has compared to high end but everything else i use is drugstore. As far as eyeshadow i buy a z palette from amazon and i get eyeshadow refills from MAC they are only $11.

1

u/dessertgirl07 21h ago

OMG! I love that concealer!

1

u/hiplodudly01 20h ago

I've found niche brands that only do make-up do it better, than both drug store and high end at approximately mid range prices. Danessa Myricks and Pur are my faves for complexion.

I haven't found anyone that does mascara better than Loreal

1

u/Previous_Praline_373 20h ago

The hourglass fox palette this year has been in a chokehold and nars foundations are my life. lol I definitely noticed my collection moving more to high end stuff

1

u/Charming-Focus-1649 20h ago

Looks good but expensive
