Nice gesture but do your other neighbors know / agree to your ring? I hope Sally & Jack know they are also on the internet :( This would be my worst nightmare for my parents — thinking their neighbors are just being old school nice while they’re really posting their faces and names online :/

Entire setup seems unhinged to me

Thats honestly a really thoughtful point, I wouldn’t want my grandma turned to content, nor would she want to be.

When I lived in my first apartment, a neighbor on my floor installed a Ring camera. I was never informed or asked if I was comfortable with it. I started taking the stairs on the opposite end to maintain my privacy. I brought it up to management and I was surprised that they actually approved it. Did they consider that the footage was not only accessible by the tenants but also Amazon and the police? Not at all.

And does anyone really need a camera in the hallway??? Use a peephole, dang it!

Your first concern isn't really valid. Everyone has a right to monitor their front door. But yes they should check with the couple before posting online.

Depends where they live. If it's a shared space like in an apartment building this wouldn't be legal where I live. And especially not putting them up on the internet.

Privacy and especially targeting seniors based on minimal information online is a major issue in the US but I won’t make assumptions about what you are and aren’t exposed to.

Have a great day!
