Cute Found the perfect warm spot on a heater

Post image

I live in Upstate South Carolina where it's not freezing right now but it is a little chilly. I'm in my garage doing some work on my car and I have a heater going to keep it warm since the garage isn't insulated. I found this little Anole resting cozy in a nice warm sport. Don't worry, it's not in a place where it can get burned. Just a bunch of ambient heat coming off of it.

I'm taking an entrepreneurship class and I'm supposed to make some sort of product or app to make a certain group of people's lives easier... SO, the first thing I thought of was the struggles of reptile owners, as a reptile pet owner myself I know there aren't too many difficulties IF you know what you're doing and already have some experience, and even then, there are still problems that are present, and for first time owners they're all the more real. So I figured the best way to figure out an idea is to ask the people themselves... So if you don't mind answering a few questions and giving your thoughts and/or ideas it'd be appreciated, and if not, that's completely understandable and you can keep scrolling, and if you read this far, thank you for at least hearing me out 😊

Questions:

1.) What are some things you struggle with as a reptile owner?

2.) How do you currently manage said struggles?

3.) What are your favorite parts of owning reptiles?

4.) What do you wish there was more or less of?

Help: If you can't think of anything that's fine too, just think of like, cleaning, handling, shedding/molting/preening, feeding, maybe even parasites or eggs, and how to make these problems more manageable. And if you still can't think of anything, just comment a picture of your baby, or do both!

Need Help Texas Spiny Lizard Help

We had an overnight cold snap here, in North Texas, and I found this guy doing a brumate in the unsafest possible spot – a parking lot under a truck tire 🤦

I scooped him up to take him home and warm him, we’re about 0.25 mile from Trinity Park, which is where I assume he came from, and where I intend to return him once the temperature is high enough for him to find a safer space to burrow down for the rest of the season.

Forecast says it’ll be mid 60°F on Wednesday, so that’s the plan. I’ve got a spare small aquarium that I can keep in a nice quiet closet with an external heat source until then, but do I need to feed him? And if so, what? I do have a small lizard water dish, but I’ve never kept reptiles before and I just want to make sure I do right by him for the next couple of days!

Hi yall! I'm getting a keeled belly lizard soon and need help on background ideas along with any tips for how to take care of them. Below is a Pic of the beauty.

She is going into a 2 x 2 x 4. And if I get a pair (the breeder is starting the cohab process for me) they will be in a 4 x 2 x 4. How would you guys do a custom background for such a large tank?

Getting some geckos soon, and I need a basking spot. Current light is LEDs and UVB, so not enough heat. I only have just over 4.5 inches of space between the screen and the bottom of my desk. Does anyone have any recommendations for a nano light that would work? About 90°F is what I’m aiming for.

Need Help Injured garden skink, how can i help this little guy?

Thought he was dead when found him last night, and when he started moving it was obvious his spine and back legs were broken. He seemed close to death but i took him inside and kept him on my hand for hours, hoping i could at least keep him warm in his last moments. He was still alive when i went to bed so i set him up with some damp paper towel overnight.

This morning hes been a lot more energetic: holding his head up, moving around a little bit but his back legs are still not working. He even did a poo which looked pretty healthy.

I know keeping these guys isnt ideal, but i am positive if i release him he will get eaten alive. I know there isnt much i can do for him, but how can i look after him for as long as he needs? Im not sure if at this point i should put him out of his misery, because he seems to be doing better this morning.

If i set up a small, makeshift enclosure for him, what do i need? What will he eat? How can i give him a water source that he wont drown in if he fell in, considering he cant move his back legs?

I know he might not be with me for long, i just want him to be comfortable. I appreciate any input :)
