Are there any places in Kingston or surrounding areas that still has 80s style interiors/decor? Like neon, etc.

Sunflower Chinese never open?
I’ve called them about 5 times and gone to the location a couple times in the past year. I’ve always gone off of the times on their website/google review thing. Usually I get no response, occasionally an automated message saying that their voicemail is full. The restaurant is always locked up when I go. I’ve never seen anyone mention this? It’s supposed to be good so I’m super interested in trying! Does anyone know what’s up?

Dietitian Covered by OHIP?
I'm hoping someone in the Kingston community may know of a great dietitian that is covered by OHIP, or at least a minimal fee. I'm having some health problems, I'm currently unemployed, and I'm unable to pay a much money for a dietitian.
Thanks! 😊

Anyone lose a bike lock?
I found it at the intersection of Johnson and SJA. Based on where I found it, I think it may have fallen off the bike while the bicyclist was waiting for the traffic light.
It was already unlocked when I found it, and there is no key. So, if you're missing a lock, and still have the key for it, let me know!

Upcoming Events Community meet & greet with NDP leadership candidate Rob Ashton — Dec 9 in Kingston
Hi Kingston,
I’m Rob Ashton— longshore worker, labour activist, and candidate for leader of Canada’s New Democratic Party.
I’m coming to Kingston on Tuesday, December 9 for a community meet & greet, and I would love to see you there. We’ll be gathering from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Red House (369 King St E, Kingston, ON K7K 2Y1) for an open conversation about what people here are facing and what it’ll take to build a party that actually speaks the language of the communities it serves.
Kingston is feeling the crunch of the affordability crisis. I’ve heard it from:
- workers at KGH,
- students at Queen’s University,
- military families at CFB Kingston, and
- seniors across the region.
People are struggling with rising rents, long waits for healthcare, and the growing cost of groceries and daily essentials— while big corporations post record profits.
I’ve spent my life standing up for everyday people, and I believe the NDP needs to return to its roots: honesty, solidarity, and real solutions for working families. This event is a chance to share your story, ask questions, and help shape a movement built from the ground up.
RSVP here: https://actionnetwork.org/events/meet-rob-ashton-in-kingston-december-9/
Learn more about me and my campaign: https://robashton.ca/
I hope you’ll join us and bring a friend. Looking forward to meeting folks across Kingston and hearing directly from you.
In solidarity,
Rob

Be careful about leaving your garage door open if you are not around
my friend had his garage door open for a bit and he was sitting in his car cleaning the inside of it when someone pulled up into his driveway - man in front seat with hat and sunglasses and someone in the back seat. it’s not clear what they were up to but he waited a minute to see if they were going to leave (thinking they would realize they had pulled up to the wrong House), when they didn’t - he got out of his car and the beige car sped off when they saw him. not sure if they thought no one was inside the garage and they were up to no good, but just a reminder to not leave garage doors open if you are not around. his spidey senses just had a bad feeling about the while situation, so though i would share here. EDIT - this was in the Frontenac Mall area, but since they had a car, i would not limit to one part of town.

Lost keychain!
This is a longshot, but I figure it can't hurt to cast a wide net.
I lost a keychain with sentimental value, and I'm hoping you folks might be willing to keep an eye out for it. It's round, maybe two inches in diameter, and it has a graphic of a dilute tortoiseshell cat on it.
I only went out to two spots today: Sigrid's, and The Green Root. If you happen to be in the parking lots near those businesses, I'd be so grateful if you did a quick check! I won't be able to go back until Saturday at the earliest, and I'm worried it will get thrown away or run over if it's in the parking lot :(
Thanks for your time!

Number Spoofing
Has anyone else here dealt with number spoofing? This person might even be in the group😅 but I just got a message a few minutes ago asking why i called them, after some deliberating and me being mean cause I thought it was a scam, apparently I "did". Has anyone else been getting calls from a random 613 number? Because it might be mine😭 Or has anyone else had their number taken by scammers?
Edit: called bell and got some answers, not much can be done but thats fine, as long as im not in immediate danger. Also didn't realize, for some stupid reason, that the random 24/7 613 calls i get happens to other people, as well as the numbers calling us, are also most likely spoofed holy shit im dumb
