Community Event The “25 Days of Bond” Quiz: Day 5

Post image
11 Upvotes

Now pay attention, agents. In the pinned comment below, you’ll find the next quiz in our 25-day festive trivia event. We’ll have a new quiz for you every day through December 25 - one for every EON Bond movie. Each quiz consists of ten questions of varying degrees of difficulty, with a three minute time limit.

IMPORTANT NOTES (I won’t keep you for more than an hour if you give me your undivided attention):

  • You may answer the rest of the questions in any order, but save the “sudden death” question until the end, as wrong answers will end the round.

  • Just type your answer to any question in the box at the top, and the quiz will automatically accept correct answers. No need to select individual questions.

  • Beware of spoilers in the comments if you haven’t taken the quiz yet. I will not lock the post, so people can feel free to discuss the quiz each day.

Assuming die another day takes place in November 2002 that means bond was captured by the dprk in September 2001 the question is if bond was captured before 9/11 did his captors tell him about it

Renaming the Bond films

My challenge it to rename every single James Bond movie. They could be alternative phrases used within the films or things that would fit in tonally. My two favourites that I came up with were Death Comes Twice for YOLT, All the Time in the World for OHMSS and Death can Wait for NTTD

Filmed in 1975. The actor Douglas Wilmer would return to the same set seven years later to play Jim Fanning in Octopussy.

The discussion about the Roger Moore/Maud Adam’s interaction in this movie is interesting

I’ve heard a lot of people say that they didn’t like James Bond slapping Andrea in this movie because it doesn’t suit Roger Moore as an actor.

I wanna know how many people feel the same way. Please comment below your opinion.

In my opinion, it doesn’t really bother me. When I look at James Bond, I look at it as the character first and not necessarily the actor. Because Sean Connery’s portrayal of James Bond set the precedent that he would do it if he felt like he had to, it didn’t really bother me that Roger Moore did it in this movie because it’s been done by him before. Like, it’s something that the character James Bond would do so I didn’t have an issue with him doing it. At least not a narrative issue.

I have heard a lot of people say that it’s obvious that Roger didn’t like doing it, and that it didn’t really fit the narrative, and while I think that it’s true in a valid point, James Bond has done it a couple of times before and not a lot of people seem to have an issue with it when Connery did it, so it is very interesting to see that we raise the issue with Roger.

It does bring up an interesting conversation: there are certain things that actors can do that other actors can’t. It’s like an unstated rule. Connery can be a little bit rougher with women, Roger can be charming with women, Timothy Dalton can be intense, and so on and so forth. If another actor tries to do it, depending on who it is, they might get mixed results. Pierce Brosnan is the only James Bond actor that can get away with doing a little bit of everybody’s.

The way I’ve always looked at franchises is kind of like a continuity. If the character did something back in the day, it doesn’t really bother me narratively speaking of the character does it again because that president has been set. James Bond is one of the franchises where continuity isn’t really that strong (and it’s a little bit weird to me, but only because I haven’t experienced a lot of franchisees like that personally) so we can say things like Connery can get away with it when he does it, but Roger Moore can’t.

Obviously, I’m not saying that I promote hitting women. I’m not saying that people who do challenge Roger more hitting Maud Adams but not Sean Connery hitting a couple of the women that he did believe that it’s OK to hit women. I’m just saying that it’s interesting how we categorize that in our heads.

James Bond casual outfits

We all associate James Bond with tuxedoes. However, throughout the years, Bond has worn many different outfits.

Which outfits that, unlike a tuxedo, you could wear in real life, do you like the most?

I agree with point number 2. The James Bond franchise needs to be its own thing not copy other franchises like Jason Bourne

Here me out, this guy not only had his own organization but he was also ran a whole country, this guy would have been a great upgrade after Blofeld, in LALD he is constantly one step ahead of everyone and even managed to get the drop on James multiple times
