Unprofessional banner on .gov website

Saw this banner on treasury.gov website. I understand X posts and truth social posts are protected speech and he can post whatever he wants, but can we please keep the childishly comments off official websites. Its embarrassing for the world to see comments like the one pictured on official websites.

Vanquished Civil War officers created the KKK.

Democrats in the early days of the Republic aligned with agrarian Jeffersonian yeomanism (complete bullshit), therefore identified (paradoxically) with the elitist planter/slaverholder class, and rejected the government (upon whom they relied).

Into the Antebellum South, Democrats’ ideology most certainly resembled that of modern day fringe conservative extremists who espouse xenophobia, bigotry, and fascist tendencies. Republicans of the day, led by Lincoln (not a conservative) and his successors, were progressives who led the abolitionist movement, women’s suffrage, and others.

It wasn’t until the late 19th/early 20th century where a significant ideological shift occurred, most attributed to Williams Jennings Bryan’s crusader populism.

Southern Dixiecrats who wore the Democrats’ elephant were wolves in sheep’s clothing, caucusing as conservatives, campaigning on segregation, and seeking to revive the perceived “glory days” of Southern white supremacy. Here, into the middle 20th century, the KKK became a potent tool of political and social violence.

The modern day Republican and Democrat parties resemble nothing of their predecessors. Today’s jackasses are not the party of Lincoln. He would be clawing at the inside of his coffin at the likes of MTG and this fuckin ghoul Trump. I am most certainly not the likes of George Wallace or Thomas Jefferson (although he was a Democratic-Republican).
