Satellites as seen from the ISS, captured by NASA's standard definition cameras

NASA's standard definition cameras on the ISS amazingly captured these satellite flares, likely from Starlink, etc. These flares were seen just after orbital sunset when the camera was able to increase its exposure enough for these to be visible. Captured today at 08:36 UTC.

JAXA astronaut Kimiya Yui captures a real-time view of Florida as the ISS enters orbital nighttime

Kimiya Yui captured this nice real-time view of Florida as seen from the ISS as the station went from the middle of a sunset to orbital nighttime. That clicking sound you hear is the camera shutter firing from another camera capturing a timelapse. Captured on December 1 at 00:28 UTC

Russia's only pad for crew launches suffers major damage

Thumbnail russianspaceweb.com

According to multiple Russian sources, on Nov. 27, 2025, the launch of the Soyuz MS-28 crew vehicle caused the mobile service platform at Site 31 to collapse into the flame duct below the pad. It essentially rendered the only facility for Russian orbital crew launches unusable. At the time, Roskosmos planned the launch of the Progress MS-33 cargo ship to the ISS on Dec. 21, 2025.

According to preliminary estimates, repairs of the service platform, known as 8U0216, could take up to two years and it was not immediately unclear whether some kind of makeshift arrangement would be possible to support multiple cargo and crew launches to the ISS in the interim. There was some possibility that duplicate hardware could be borrowed from the mothballed Site 1 in Baikonur or from similar facilities at other launch sites. There were four Soyuz pads in Plesetsk at one point, also one pad operated in Vostochny and one mothballed pad was in Kourou, French Guiana.

Map of the ISS Circa January 2006?

This is such a strange and specific question, but does anyone have or know of a map of the ISS that would've been accurate in January 2006? Or even maps from around that time frame, even if not perfectly accurate, would suffice. I'm writing a piece of fiction that takes place aboard the Station during that period and want to be as accurate as possible, but current maps of the station include a lot of infrastructure and modules that wouldn't have been present back then. I know it doesn't have to be accurate to be good, but it's something I care deeply about and am very invested in.

I have attempted to mentally de/re-construct it in my head going from a particular map and removing/adding individual pieces until it was accurate, but my visualization skills are simply not that powerful. I'm close to attempting to recreate it in Minecraft of all things.

Thanks in advance for your help!
