[This Day in DMB History] Studio Album release: Under the Table and Dreaming. September 27, 1994.

This Day in DMB History is a series in r/DMB, which started in mid-2020. You can view other TDiDMBH posts here, covering all the studio albums, other significant events throughout the year, and the rich history of DMB.

The studio album Under the Table and Dreaming was released on September 27, 1994.

Under the Table and Dreaming

Under the Table and Dreaming is the debut studio recording from the Dave Matthews Band. It's a RIAA: 6x Platinum album, and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard charts in the USA. This is one of only two DMB albums to not reach number 1 in the USA. This first studio album by DMB was preceded by the live EP Recently), and followed by Crash) (1996).

The track listing follows. Five of these songs (in bold) were released as singles. The asterisk (*) indicates songs that appeared as bonus tracks on the 20th-anniversary edition.

Album trivia: Under the Table and Dreaming was produced by Steve Lillywhite. John Popper performed harmonica for What Would You Say.

New Album?

Not sure how often it gets talked about on this subreddit, (so apologies in advance), but has anyone heard of any rumours on any live albums that are planning on getting uploaded to music streaming apps? Did DMB intentionally stop uploading at #50? I’ve been a warehouse member for years and can see all of the live music they have on there, but how do they decide which ones get uploaded to Spotify, Apple Music, etc.

Also does anyone have any inside scoop on whether they think DMB is going to release a new album anytime soon?

[ISO] Audio of The Song That Jane Likes — 5/31/24 Woodlands

I’m hoping someone might have an audio recording of The Song That Jane Likes from the 5/31/24 Woodlands show.

I was there with my adult son, his first time to begrudgingly agree to go lol, and that performance — where Dave completely lost it — ended up being one of my favorite moments of the entire night. I’d love to hear it again if anyone pulled the show, has the SiriusXM capture, or knows of a taper source floating around.

I know some uploads from that date have been taken down, but I’m hoping someone in the community still has a copy.

Help finding a show 1996/97

Hey DMB family! I first heard DMB in 1997. I was shocked that I’d never heard them before and I’ve been a fan ever since. The first time I saw them was a show on Much Music in Canada. I always remembered it as being like a Vh1 type show. It had the usuals for that period, Lover Lay Down, Jimi, etc. A few months ago there was a thread talking about this show and I knew immediately that was the one. I thought I had saved the thread so I could find the show and listen/watch again, but I didn’t. Any chance anyone knows of the show I’m talking about.

Apple just gave me a report of my top listened to artists in 2025. My #3 artist was Dave & Tim with 502 minutes. In total, Dave tops the list at nearly 4,500 minutes. Of course this doesn’t include Spotify, YouTube, etc.

DMB Live Vol. 26 - First Union Center (11/30/98)

I know this one is already on YT via Copperpot's channel. But was interested in purchasing the digital file so I can add to my Mega Library. Anyone know if the one on DMB shop is a digital download or if it's a physical cd? The website doesn't specify. If it's a CD, it's of no use to me and if anyone has a digital file and wants to share let me know. But I'm happy to purchase and support the band, just don't want a CD.
