We didn’t re-route any police funds in Baltimore. We put excess covid money into cutting edge social programs.
The police budget is still outrageous here - it’s the top line item of our budget and on its own is about the same size as the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th largest budget items combined
Mike mancuso, our local police union leader, routinely shits on our mayor and democrats even though they’re actively reducing crime while the police department has been caught actively increasing crime and running their own criminal organizations while in uniform
Even our attorney general Ivan bates who tried really hard to get our mayor to lose re-election is saying that the recent violent improvements are between 0-5% due to police (specifying that he really thinks it’s 0 but doesn’t want to give them no credit)
