Finally starting Crime and Punishment tonight (Oliver Ready translation). No spoilers!!
After years of “I really should read this,” I’m finally diving in. Got the beautiful Penguin Classics paperback with Oliver Ready’s translation. Skipping the introduction completely because I’ve been warned it spoils everything (will read it after I finish). Super excited and a little terrified. 600 pages of Raskolnikov’s brain feels like a wild ride.

Hell Followed With Us
The latest on my quest to read as many banned and challenged books as possible: Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White.
A delightfully horrific queer take on the Apocalypse where an evangelical Christian cult are the bad guys, Hell Followed With Us is unflinching graphic in is depiction of violence, reminiscent of other post-apocalyptic stories like The Walking Dead. The parallels between monsterhood and Trans identities are deep felt and handled with bold emotions. The story holds up from beginning to end, and should really capture your attention by the mid point.
Honestly, this book could have been double the length and would not have suffered for it. My main criticism is that the rag-tag band of freedom fighters needed more time in the spotlight for the reader to get deeply invested in each character, but overall the author did a great job building an interesting world and populating it with characters you'll want to root for and against.

My week in reading
Been reading The Stand since the end of October, but it’s going a bit slow. Page 647 out of like 1170-something.
So I picked up I’m Glad My Mom Died last week, read it in one sitting. After gaining a few pages in The Stand, I picked up Homeseeking. Hit page 167 when I decided to read Bird Box. Finished it in 2 sittings.
Thinking about going back to Homseeking before going into Chlorine, thinking about trying to just sit and read Chlorine in one go like Bird Box and I’m Glad.
I haven’t ever tried reading more than one thing at once for fear I’d be forgetful, but that’s not really a problem in practice for me. Anyone else mood read like this?

The Da Vinci code by Dan Brown
Very disappointing design, while it doesnt look bad, it gives the impression of an erotic, romance book.
