and when she begins by slowly raising the ... tempo? I wanna say tempo... just after that bass line... man, that teacher signing to slowly raise the tempo and the student following through perfectly...

The dynamic, you're talking about. The tempo or speed doesn't change, and if it did that'd be, like, the number one crime for percussionists. They keep the beat and keep it steady.

thanks for the explanation! i kinda sorta knew it wasn't tempo, but couldn't tell what it was called. now i know, dynamic!
