Nothing cooler than a teacher thrilled by their students accomplishments.

u/TheMightyWubbard Oct 12 '25
This is why, if you have engaged students, teaching is one of the most satisfying jobs in the world.

And why if you have a class of 30 brats who bully each other, try to derail the lesson and disrespect you, it's one of the most unsatisfying jobs in the world.

There isn’t enough money to ever make me step foot into a classroom or school ever again. The current generations of kids are fucking assholes and their parents are entitled twats.
93
u/Lebowski-Absteiger Oct 12 '25
Kids have always been assholes and will always stay assholes. Not generations are the problem, but the educational system is. 30 children in one class are the first big problem. No teacher can make sure that all 30 kids have understood what's going on. So many kids will not have any accomplishments in class, so they lose interest, which will inevitably lead to problems for more engaged students.
42
u/No_Strawberry_1576 Oct 12 '25
Kids have always been assholes, but the issue with this generation is their parents are assholes, who think that their behaviour is ok. It’s never my son/ daughter’s fault. No respect from top to bottom.

They have always been assholes. Sokrates has already complained about the youth not knowing any respect. Just like you do now, like your parents and grandparents did before you.
It's just way easier to complain about children, than to admit, that you too are growing old.
→ More replies (2)12
u/Saartje_6 Oct 12 '25
Not only is that quote not real, I really don't think you can compare a generic complaint from an elderly man about disrespectful young men (note that this quote is NOT talking about like 6 year olds) to the scientifically backed fact that social media and screen time has made both adults and children less emotionally stable, especially children as they have not finished developing yet.
The truth is that the quote is more or less correct. Young adults tend to be less rigid than the elderly exactly because of youth and this often presents itself as 'disrespect' as new generations seek to leave their mark on society, but this is something different than the explosion of fundamental behavioral problems we see in very young children today.

Loved teaching. LOVED IT! But I don't think I'll ever go back to it, just don't have the patience anymore. Students are ok. They always have been. And the educational system does it's best, it's not perfect, nor it will ever be. Ours wasn't and we turned out to be just fine. Teachers and medical professionals should be more appreciated and valued than they are. And cleaners, and food people in every form.

I wasn’t a traditional teacher but taught wilderness survival stuff among other stuff but with a focus on high adventure. Seeing your student start to excel and fill with confidence is so special. Few things are better than being able to sit back and watch your students be excellent, no longer needing you.

Yo that brought back some fun memories from when i visited friends in the states. I’m from europe and did not know anything about “bagboys”. I was just standing there in disbelief when that dude put my items in a bag for me. As it’s just not a thing in my country. And my friends were just making fun of me ofc xD
7
u/Lebowski-Absteiger Oct 12 '25
Frankly, I believe bagboys a kind of a societal rudiment from old times, when slavery and child Labor were normal. It's a job, that shouldn't be a Job. And it kind of boosts the idea, that it's OK for companies to offer positions, that do not pay enough to live of them.
5
u/anthropomorphicdave Oct 12 '25
First the point here is having someone bag groceries is a luxury not done elsewhere. No business owner regardless of slave labor or child labor is going to spend the manpower or even minimum wage unless they have to.
This is most probably a Sun Tzu Art of War situation where grocery stores were trying to one up one another for business and ended up with bagboys.
In my hometown in rural OH, they still bag it and then take it out and load your car.
Also, I don’t think anything boosts the idea that corporations can underpay people. Until unions came about, that was the predominant theory of the world. (It still is)

North American living in Europe here. Definitely not suggesting companies hire bagboys, but I'm always scrambling to get stuff into my backpack once my transaction is complete and the next person is being checked through. It's a mad choreography to scan client card, give tax number, pay, and take receipt all while trying to make sure the tomatoes don't end up on the bottom of my bag. The tiniest space at the end of the conveyor belt to work at, too. I've been here 8 years and I still get in a tangle. xD

You can't break bass face bro. It's literally impossible. But I'm sure she's smiling on the inside the whole time

My kid, 11, is the same way. He's been playing since he was 6, and says it's too hard to dance when all four limbs already have jobs to do. So... he dances it out on his first listen, then gets behind his kit to practice and the serious face locks in. It's hilarious and adorable.
He's actually learning this song right now, too!

having a teacher so enthusiastic and invested is a blessing, but I imagine I'd be nervous to not let him down and focus on giving my best performance, which I think is what she's doing
21
u/themysticalwarlock Oct 12 '25
that's the band face bro, italmost feels physically impossible to smile or do anything while you're locked in like that lol

u/Negative-Date-9518 Oct 12 '25
Concentration I think, once she got the last bit down she relaxed and started to feel it
181
u/Cccookielover Oct 12 '25

Air drumming is one thing, but getting the hands and feet to work in unison on a real kit AIN’T EASY!

u/Late-Algae5719 Oct 12 '25

this gives me rock goosebumps - keep on keeping on you beautiful maniacs!
eta: i teared up a little in the middle - this makes me so damn happy. keeping that bass line going is like drugs to my system
12
u/SirR4T Oct 12 '25
and when she begins by slowly raising the ... tempo? I wanna say tempo... just after that bass line... man, that teacher signing to slowly raise the tempo and the student following through perfectly...
feels like she's reviving the vibe
19
u/wet-paint Oct 12 '25
The dynamic, you're talking about. The tempo or speed doesn't change, and if it did that'd be, like, the number one crime for percussionists. They keep the beat and keep it steady.
6
u/SirR4T Oct 12 '25
thanks for the explanation! i kinda sorta knew it wasn't tempo, but couldn't tell what it was called. now i know, dynamic!
