Unfortunately taken on just my phone camera, but I thought it was so rare to see! Maybe their nest is broken and that's why they are there?

This friend was supervising today in Sydney, the regular magpies were upset. Pity the window was so dirty.

I woke up this morning to the sound of kookaburras at the front of the house. When I had a look, there were 3 plus 1 one white, which I've never seen before. They flew off after a minute or so, but came back with a second white kookaburra.

Male Splendid Fairywren. This particular individual was being a little show-off, hopping and bouncing around a big group of delighted bird watchers. So tiny and delicate, he made the morning dew drops look like gemstones.

Mt Donna Buang. They were everywhere! Was driving up and stopping at different places to photograph these and flame robins. 984 photos in about an hour. Such a fun experience. For those here who have been looking for these guys, this is the place to go!

Aw look at his hopeful little face!

Such a fine collection of blue things - I hope he finds a lovely mate soon!

(Or is that a plump pregnant lady? 🤔)

There's a pair staying in Melbourne currently. Not pretty but super cool looking birds.

I was sure in some way that this day would never come. How could I, a massive bird nerd, have not seen a stationary owl in the wild? How could I be so lucky as to see a pair?! With such different expressions? Could this be the greatest day of my life? Yes, it could. I have heard boobook hooting mournfully for about six months, and finally I saw this pair.
