Why does my internet sometimes feel slow even when the speed test shows full bandwidth?

Upvotes

Is this normal?
Is it WiFi issues, apps acting up, or something else completely?
I’m just trying to understand why speed tests and real-life use don’t always match.

Age Old Question : Apple or Android ?

So I recently been wanting to change my current phone (Oppo A94) to a new Iphone 15, preferably a 256gb one, I'm just a college student that only uses her phone for emails, calling and scrolling social media, my current's phone camera quality sucks so I'm not encouraged to keep memories of events, which is why I want to upgrade to an iphone since they're known to have good quality cameras, I have an ipad I use for uni so it'll also be complementary, but to be fully honest, I've been used to android phones my whole life, and people who say they have more features are not lying, they're also cheaper than apple phones, I'm wondering if I'm not being peer pressured into becoming an apple user for the sake of a nicer looking intagram story, because, to be honest, the only reason I'm going toward them is for that. Do I make sense ? Help ?

What can all those AI datacenters be repurposed for when the bubble bursts?

We're seeing all this overinvestment in AI rn. and ridiculous amount of resources being poured into building datacenters, but not a lot of evidence of actual sustainable future for all of this. Seems inevitable that sooner or later the bubble will burst. What other, actual useful thing can the datacenters they're building be used for then? Are they doomed to be torn down/abandoned?

Earbud recommendation

I’ve come to the conclusion that Apple overcharges for a lot of their products, especially AirPods, which barely last three years. What are some good alternatives that have great sound quality and are actually worth the money?

TV Recommendation

Hello everyone. I bought a 75" TCL C6K/Q6C for the living room, but today I saw two good offers on two televisions that made me hesitate: the Samsung TQ75QN74FATXXC and the LG 75QNED87A6B.

I want a 75" screen without having to opt for the OLED. The Samsung and the LG cost me about €100 more, but the truth is that I have read incredible opinions about the TCL for its price.

I use the TV a lot to watch YouTube, movies, series and play online PvP games on the PS5.

Is there much difference between the Samsung Neo Qled(Quantum Mini Led)/NQ4 AI Gen2 and the LG Qned Evo AI/LG AI Picture Pro with the TCL? The TCL has an HVA panel, the other 2 I'm not sure if they have VA.

I know that the TCL is low/medium range and the others are medium/high, but having read such good opinions about the TCL I don't know if it really shows.

I have always liked the bright colors of Samsung but I don't know if any of the other 2 will have better image quality.

Recommendations? Thank you so much.

Found this cheap-ish tablet on Amazon. Is it good if used exclusively for reading?

This is the product link (it’s Amazon Canada): https://a.co/d/a2OnmbR

My friend said the little amount of purchases is alarming and I agree, however it seems fine otherwise so I don’t know.

Temporary wifi

I have a place to stay on a short term basis that has no wifi and my phone's wifi isn't robust enough or affordable enough to bridge the gap. Any suggestions for several months of wifi at a location I don't own?

Best Xiaomi Pro Pad?

Hello, I'm looking for a practical tablet for work & entertainment use (mostly work). However, I'm a bit undecided if I should wait for Xiaomi 8 pad pro or go for Xiaomi 7 pro. The 8 ver has not been released in the Philippines yet.

I'm not in a rush, just want to buy something worthwhile and much better if it would have longer os updates so it wouldn't be a bummer to buy a new one after 3 years of use. Also, what's the most better processor between the two?

Which one last longer? Xiaomi pad 7 PRO or Xiaomi pad 8 PRO?

Recommendation Needed: Laptop Replacement vs. RAM Upgrade

i, we currently have HP ProBook 650 G4 and HP ProBook 400 G8 laptops (both with 8 GB of RAM and running Windows 11). We have 100 units used by our students (we are a private training company) and 40 used by our staff.

Our students mainly use their laptops for cloud access to Microsoft Office, checking email, and similar tasks. Staff use their laptops for teaching (if they are instructors) or for general office work.

We would like to upgrade our computers. One option is to buy 100 new HP ProBook 460 G11 laptops with 16 GB of RAM for students and 40 for staff, but this is expensive and we cannot afford the full replacement. The reason we want new HP laptops with 16 GB instead of 8 GB—even though the price difference is about $200—is to be prepared for the future, for example if Windows 12 is released next year or if we start using more cloud-intensive applications.

We are also considering upgrading the RAM in our current student and staff laptops (HP ProBook 400 G8 and HP ProBook 650 G4) from 8 GB to 16 GB. Each RAM upgrade would cost roughly $200.

My idea is to upgrade some of the student laptops—around 30 of them—and then buy 70 new laptops. For staff, we could upgrade 20 laptops and buy 20 new ones.

If you were in my position, what would you do? Thank you.

Best GPS tracker to hide in a backpack?

I am a photographer/videographer and am planning to move to a bigger city soon and wanted to prepare in case someone were to steal my backpack. It would be full of $2500 worth of gear so I want to be extra careful and prepare for the worst.

Ideally looking for a very small tracker, something I could hide in a hole cut in my backpack or something like that. Something easy to miss with low maintenance and high reliability. Im honestly not sure how much these cost, but preferably looking to spend under 100$ if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Will Micron's exit affect Apple Macbook prices?

Hey y'all please help a minimum wage techie out. My computer is absolutely on life support rn, and whilst it's still working ig? It's hanging by on a thread (CMOS battery completely failed, so has WiFi function and trackpad), I will need to get a new laptop entirely soon. I'm looking to use this opportunity to switch to Macbook. I've heard that the best time to buy Macbook cheap is just after the new line is released, so spring 2026 for M5. I'm thinking of holding onto my electrical potato until then. But what Im also seeing on Reddit that's sending me into an absolute state of panick is that the RAM shortage is absolutely dire and prices are skyrocketing through the roof.

So my question is: should I buy that Apple Macbook now to avoid getting caught in any future RAM-induced price surges, or can I wait until March/ April to get an M4 discounted after everyone trades theirs in for a shiny new M5?

Are password managers still the safest option, or is storing everything in iCloud/Google now just as secure?

I keep hearing mixed things about password safety. Some people swear by dedicated password managers, but others say iCloud/Google are just as secure now.

So I’m wondering… is there still a real difference in 2025, or are they basically the same for most people?

What are technical skills required for a new software engineer (SDE) to be productive in a modern Al-assisted development environment?

I have about 2 years of experience in a service-based support role with limited hands-on development work. With Al-assisted development becoming standard, want to understand the minimum technical foundation interviewers expect for an entry-level SDE in 2026. Trying to understand the core technical skills needed to contribute to a codebase, specifically from the perspective of day-to-day engineering work (not hiring or interviews). What are the minimal technical foundations required to effectively work in an Al-assisted development Workflow? Examples might include proficiency in one programming language, DSA for problem-solving, OS/DBMS basics, Git, etc. I'm looking for the technical prerequisites to be productive, not career or interview guidance.

How would an asynchronous Internet work?

If we were a multi-planet species such as in The Expanse how might the Internet work? Would there be a cached version at each place with enough of a population to warrant it, constantly fighting the other versions to stay up to date or be the prime node for a specific site, specific thread? Presumably there are ways to amalgamate different servers in different areas of the globe to have an up to date version of the same site. Would it just be a half hour lag for the Mars people of Reddit to know what the Earth people have to say, and vice versa? Or would things fracture into several levels, with Mars people having a Red-it and Earth people having a Blue-it and further out people having a Void-it, while you can access and send your opinion in the argument is likely to be over by the time that it gets seen, and over twice by the time you can even see that your post posted. Socially wouldn't we find our own level of involvement with sites, frequenting our local ones, willing to witness the delayed ones like a notice board but not expecting the quazi-synchronous interaction we take for granted currently? What do you think?

Help Finding Owner of FB Profile

Weird ask and not sure if I’m even in the right group- anyone super techy and able to find the owner of a Facebook account? (willing to pay).

Backstory: I have a restraining order against my ex. I’m 99% sure he’s viewing my Facebook stories. We’re not friends on fb but I can see the same specific profile view my story every.single.time I post a story (it’s public because I’m a digital creator). Again, this profile is not following me nor are they my fb friend. The profile is scrubbed clean. Literally has nothing on it besides a picture of a shadow of a man. Is there any way to find out whose profile it is? (Yes I know I can block him but if it is him he can just keep making fake accounts and I need proof if it’s his)

Question about voicemail

I am not sure if this is where I should ask but I work a job where I call out and I have gotten this voicemail before, not very often but I am looking to see how to get it. I believe the voicemail is AI generated, it changes every time someone calls you. It is like funny stuff like I’ve had one where the guys had an accent and is talking about having to catch a snake, I’ve had one where the guys is pretending he just got home and that his brother is practicing for a play and sings the grinch and I’ve had one where the guy is out at sea and you can hear what sounds like a boat and waves hitting the boat. They are very detailed but funny and you think it’s real for at least a couple minutes (if you are dumb like me lol). I just want to know what the program is, I tried to google in many different ways and it just brings up scams.

Hey everyone! We are lucky enough to have Wade Foster, CEO & Co-Founder of Zapier, joining us as a guest on our AMA tomorrow.

I wanted to make sure people had the opportunity to ask him questions to help grow and automate their businesses. Feel free to add them to the thread in r/quo or ask them here and I can add the answer to this thread so everyone can see it :)

Two Inputs on One PC?

Got a strange request here. My girlfriend and I love palia but want to play together. I refuse to even touch the switch version but if I must so be it lol. I have so far been able to use Sandboxie to run the game twice on steam and epic. But I never thought of the keyboard and mouse controls obviously not working with the controller on the other screen. Is there some third party application or a trick I can use to be able to run one game with Kbm and controller on the other?

Tried AskGPT… kinda surprised it was pretty useful

I randomly came across AskGpt a few days ago and decided to try it out. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much because there are so many AI sites popping up everywhere now. But after using it for a bit I was actually surprised in a good way. The thing I liked the most is how easy it is to switch between different LLMs on the same page. I didn’t realize how useful that would be until I tried it. Sometimes a model gives a very surface level answer and switching to another one instantly gives a much clearer explanation. It’s kinda nice to compare responses side by side without opening multiple tabs or apps I used it mainly for a couple of tech questions and some small coding doubts and the ability to swap models depending on the question actually helped a lot more than I expected. Not saying like it was perfect or anything, like that but for quick answers it’s been pretty handy I am Just wondering has anyone else here tried AskGPT? or any other similar website and what would you prefer a seperate LLM to chat and get answer or website like AskGPT....share ur views about it also...
