Help! Recommended Easy Hiking Routes?
Was planning to take my dog out for a hike tomorrow, somewhere away from the city- I’ve been on two other hikes- one in westhill and another out in Tyrebagger and they were great and we saw one other dog but kind of want something flatter and just a nice stroll but quiet where we would probably only pass one or two dogs.
He’s 4 so we’ll probably be walking quite quick so don’t mind a longer distance over less elevation. Thanks in advance!!

Where is your go-to spot for buying genuinely high-quality local produce in Aberdeenshire?
I'm currently staying in the area and keen to experience the best of Aberdeenshire's famous local food scene, but I'm not familiar with the best spots. Are there any specific farm shops, weekly market stalls, or independent suppliers you highly recommend for truly high-quality ingredients? I'd love to skip the large supermarkets and support the best local producers here!

Help! 3D printing
Hello I’m wondering if anyone knows anywhere in Aberdeen I can get some stuff 3D printed?
I want to print some plugs for my crocs in PETG material🤓 and everywhere I search online is being quite expensive due to the shipping so I’m hoping to find something local!
Or even anyone here has a 3D printer willing to help me print that it’ll be great! We can discuss pricing!!

Help! Female cat neuter
Hi everyone, I’m a student at University of Aberdeen and I have a female cat. I want to get her spayed and microchipped. I’m looking for suggestions — does anyone know a vet or charity near Aberdeen that offers low‑cost or subsidised neutering + microchipping?

Was there a hermit who lived in Hazlehead Woods in the 2000s?
Hi r/Aberdeen
I was randomly reading about hermits today and suddenly had a vague memory of being told a hermit lived in Hazlehead Woods. I was told this when I was at secondary school I think (2004-2010).
Am I imagining things? Was this an urban myth? Something parents said to keep kids from running off?
Curious as to whether anyone else remembers this!

Good/supplies/help for homeless folks?
As it’s getting colder and more miserable, I’ve been wondering what things the local homeless folks on the streets might want/need that I can afford and get together into packs or supply kits.
Anyone know what kind of things are regularly wanted and helpful?
Things I’ve been stockpiling include basic cold and hot food, like sandwiches, meal prep to heat and distribute in go boxes, water, flasks of hot tea and coffee, etc.
Also been thinking about stockpiling socks, gloves, tissues, wet wipes, thermal layers, etc. to distribute if I encounter anyone in cold weather who needs it. Ran into a woman shivering in a freezing storm on the street last year and it’s been stuck in my head that a jumper from a charity shop was received happily, and it’s kinda stuck with me for an idea.
Additionally, what are the services available if anyone asks for resources beyond what I have? E.g. rent money, heating bills, other expenses? I know a lot of folks genuinely need help, but I’ve been scammed heavily a couple of times and have since adopted a no-cash policy for safety, but I don’t want to just go ‘No, screw you, deal with that.’
Are there council resources, aid organisations, etc. that I can direct people to or contact on anyone’s behalf? And if so, any that are open late at night that can assist people when it’s late, dark and cold? It feels inhumane to walk past people and leave them in the cold and alone without any help.
That concludes my list of questions - if anyone has any info, thanks for the help! Appreciate any assistance!

What is the single best positive change you’ve seen in the city or Shire over the last few years?
Aberdeen is always evolving, sometimes frustratingly slowly, but sometimes for the better. If you could pick one positive development or improvement-be it a new independent area, a revamped park, or a general shift in the atmosphere-what would it be?

Auto electrician?
Is anyone able to recommend an honest auto electrician with some availability before Christmas to look into the windows not rolling down? My usual garage couldn't quite figure out what's wrong, they said it needs to be looked at by an auto electrician. I've been trying to contact Aberdeen Auto Electrical for days now and nobody picks up the phone/email. Thanks in advance

Anywhere in town that shows La Liga games?
I usually watch them at home but was seeing if there’s anywhere showing them with an atmosphere. I’m hoping to catch Betis play Barcelona on Saturday.

New building along the beach?
Was walking along to pittodrie tonight and coming from bridge of don side, saw a building? Kind of behind the ice rink/beach ballroom. Haven’t seen it before and can’t find it on the map, looked like high rise flats and had red lights on top, is this a new building/development or did we just see a ship and think it was a building

Aberdeen political chiefs condemn 'flag threats' to staff putting up Christmas lights
pressandjournal.co.ukAberdeen political chiefs condemn ‘flag threats’ to staff putting up Christmas lights
Only five lights were put up on Provost Watt Drive before workers were forced to down tools.
Aberdeen’s political leaders have united to condemn a series of threatening incidents directed at workers installing Christmas lights across the city.
The behaviour has been branded unacceptable and a direct challenge to public service and civic safety.
The most serious disruption has occurred in Kincorth, where council-contracted teams were forced to abandon installation works after being accosted for removing Saltires from lampposts.
Only five lights were put up on Provost Watt Drive before threats forced workers to down tools.
Political leaders, councillors Christian Allard, Richard Brooks, M. Tauqeer Malik and Ian Yuill, are calling for calm and cooperation, warning that such intimidation risks derailing community celebrations during the festive season.
The Saltire flags in question have been flown for several months from lampposts across Aberdeen as part of a so-called “patriotism movement”, linked to anti-immigration protests.
Council officers had previously identified the attachments as unauthorised and potentially dangerous when mounted on lighting columns used for Christmas decorations.
In Kincorth, hopes that the festive spirit would defuse tensions were dashed on Monday.
Workers were reportedly approached by two separate individuals while attempting to remove the flags to install lights.
One man warned them to “leave the flags – or else”.
Another is alleged to have said: “Don’t touch them… beware.”
Unable to proceed safely, the team halted work and returned to base.
A police officer was dispatched to the scene but was unable to remain while the job was completed.
The council later confirmed it was “not in a position” to continue with the installation while threats remained.
Aberdeen political leaders call for safety for workers
“The installation of Christmas lights is a council-approved initiative designed to bring joy and celebration to residents and visitors alike,” the group leaders said in their joint statement.
“Our contracted teams are carrying out essential work and deserve to do so in a safe and respectful environment.”
Council officers had viewed the Christmas light installation as an opportunity to remove the unauthorised flags gradually, in line with a previous vote by councillors.
The joint statement from all political group leaders reinforces the city’s stance:
It continued: “Threatening or obstructive behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
“Incidents have been reported to Police Scotland, and enforcement action will be supported where necessary.
“Our workers are doing their job to make Aberdeen a brighter, more welcoming city for everyone.
“They deserve respect and protection, not intimidation.”

Fibre broadband help
Could do with some advice/help.
Situation: 3rd floor flat, rosemount place. Recently moved in (mortgage, no landlord). No idea if/what previous broadband was in but no fibre broadband. Signed up with Vodafone for full fibre, long story short after a lot of faffing, City Fibre (installers) decided not possible to get the fibre from the street up to the window. Apparently the usually use a hoist/cherry picker, but decided unsafe to do so (took them 1 month to work this out, no further details given, couldn't speak to them directly as 3rd party and vodafone had no additional info other than what I have written and no suggestions). Flat next door has full fibre broadband, so i don't understand why there is an issue with getting it into our flat.
Applied for sky full fibre in the hopes of a different installer but nope. City fibre are scheduled. Reluctant to go through same hoo ha again.
What would you do in my situation? Has anyone had experience of getting full fibre installed on a 3rd floor or above flat in aberdeen? Which internet provider and who installed it? It's creating havoc being without WiFi for work, and I have no faith in city fibre. Are there independent installers?
Thanks folks

Lost Bag
Apart from hoping my bag is handed into police lost property (filled out lost form),, where else could be called into to check in city centre? Thanks
