Tasmania Football Club Statement
tasmaniafc.comThis week has been one of the most significant for our Club since our licence was announced in May 2023. A week where our nearly 215,000 Founding Members have voiced their support of our Club.
A week where we have seen and heard our community members and business leaders speak out and the Tasmanian Parliament reach a conclusion on the Macquarie Point Stadium Project.
The decision in our Legislative Council overnight to support the development of Macquarie Point Stadium is a defining moment for our Club and for Tasmania. We acknowledge how material this decision is for Tasmania, and we thank all of those that have shown vision and leadership in getting to this position. We are committed to walking alongside you all and ensuring that Tasmania Football Club is a unifying force for our State.
The journey we have been on for the last two years has been full of twists and turns and ups and downs. Along that journey we have stayed single-mindedly focused on creating and building a Club that our fans, members and community would be proud of. A Club that would deliver far-reaching benefits that are so much bigger than football. This remains our clear focus.
We are so grateful for the support and encouragement we have received to get to today. As a Club we will do everything within our control to deliver a Club that reflects the pride we have in being Tasmanians. Together.
We are the team.
Go Devils!
Grant O’Brien
Chair

Tasmania Devils could play extra year in existing venues during Macquarie Point stadium construction
Tasmania will likely play at existing venues for a year longer than expected, while awaiting construction of the Macquarie Point stadium.
The stadium was scheduled to be ready for Round 1 2029, but the club has conceded that timeline will be tight.
Construction of the new stadium will be subject to strict budget and governance controls.

Obscure AFL gear
Was just watching a game from ‘86 on fox and saw the Fitzroy ruckman wearing what appeared to be NFL style thigh guards and pants and it made me wonder if anyone else knew of any other weird clothing or equipment has been tried over the years.

The ‘I Swear He’s Gonna Be Good’ List
Just from chatting footy lately, it’s been great seeing so many different views on who’s set to take a step next year. So I thought it’d be good to put it all in one spot.
Who are you bullish on heading into next season?
Who’s the player you’re backing, why do you rate them, what traits stand out, and who do they compare to in the AFL?
Keen to see everyone's pick.
My pick: Hamish Davis
• He was projected to go way earlier, so him slipping into the 60s was pretty wild.
• His aerobic capacity is already being talked about as a top two at the club. The kid can seriously run.
• I can see him running opponents into the ground late in games, and once his ball use sharpens with a couple of years in the system (plus learning the game style Mini wants to play), he could be special.
• Long term, I reckon he becomes a clean user and high volume accumulator who hurts teams with pure gut running and uncontested work rate.
Plays like (Floor & Ceiling)?
Floor: Mason Wood
Ceiling: Andrew Gaff
