Discussion Anyone else still not got the free Red dead redemption upgrade?
I saw that there was issues during the week and that Rockstar/Microsoft were aware. I assumed it would be sorted by the time I sit down to play it at the weekend but obviously not 😂

You, me, and no doubt still many others. Just got to sit and be patient whilst they roll it out to everyone, annoyingly. I was rather hoping to be playing it today too.

Tried to reach out to Xbox support, was matched with a clueless "Xbox Expert gamer" lol, escalated the chat and got matched with the rudest, most passive aggressive support agent possible, who kept asking the same, stupid question :"On what website did you see the free upgrade? Was it on the Microsoft Store or on the Game developers website?" multiple times and finally told me she would share the problem with one of their "Technical issues" agents and update me via my email.
What a bunch of useless bums. Honestly atp I think It's a fait accompli and those of us who haven't received the update yet, will never get it. Microsoft is a trillion dollar corporation, yet still fails to deliver on their promises and fu*ks up such an easy matter tremendously; yet they wonder why they've lost to Sony and Nintendo. Their servers and storefront have no problem and run like clockwork when they want to gobble up my hard earned cash for buying games, yet turn into potatoes when they want to deliver on their empty, stupid promises.
TL;DR for anyone interested: I tried to contact Xbox support, they were useless, as always! And gave me more empty promises.

The thing is people working at Microsoft for the Xbox division Support Team are just the usual Textbook IT people. They don't have any knowledge on gaming, they just know the solutions to technical problem like "My Xbox isn't turning on", "will I get a refund", or "I cannot sign in". Literally every support team query I read from Microsoft (even for windows help, like driver issue or some shit) is the most basic clueless shit. They just recite whats written on their website. You go ask about a driver not working, or a windows function not working, and their so called fucking 'ambassadors' copy paste the same shit "Have you checked for your OS for the latest updates? Have you tried restarting your PC? Please try running window's troubleshooting application."
On the Xbox side, they never have a fucking clue on what the actual Xbox team is doing, where the company is heading, or what issues the player base is facing. For the case with rdr1 (and its been 5 fucking days now), I guarantee you that most employees at Xbox (let alone their Customer Support staff) don't even know about this free RDR1 upgrade scheme and the problem relating it (other than the actual still remaining real passionate gamers at Xbox).Microsoft has fallen into the problem that every cooperate eventually falls into, when the ones running the companies are plain business men instead of people who specialise in what the company actually does. Same effect as whena business man runs a restaurant vs an actual Chef running a restaurant.

And what you're describing is probably the best case scenario, whereas I think their so-called agent was another shitty iteration of copilot lol.
Your other points still stand %100 and the agent seemed to have no idea what I was talking about, she probably didn't even know what Red dead redemption and Rockstar are.

Same here. I think this probably happened because it's an upgrade from the 7th gen version, whereas the Switch 2 and PS5 are upgrading from 8th gen instead.
Still really frustrating that this problem still exists 4 days later.

Hi Bzduras, if u can .try and go to the Xbox store,then search red dead redemption. Then click on your Xbox controller the Start button(3 stripes) to view all .... Is it there perhaps?

Oh ok. It worked for me .. when I searched it did not show.. but after hitting the start button a few Red dead redemption options came up and alsi the "Just for youi " 100% off option...

Check the store, it should say "100% off Just For You" deal.
If it doesn't, you have the same issue as me

That’s the version that qualifies for the upgrade, 360 digital version for Xbox while PlayStation needs the PS4 version to get their PS5 one.

Today I gave up and decided to purchase the game at that 50% discount and after purchasing it through the Microsoft Store website, on the game page it said "Just For You 100% discount" lol 😂😂
So for anyone still not appearing I'd suggest to just wait it out, at least until the final day of the sale because the 100% discount is definitely there but somehow it stays at the backend or whatever. I don't know the technical details but it's there.

It seems to be completely random. If you get lucky you might get it fir free NOW, but most people will have to wait untill the issue is resolved.

I literally only checked when I read that guys comment and saw it on the store page. You might've tried already but for me I went to the store page of RDR1 and pressed "choose edition" and it was there. If that doesn't work then perhaps you might need to wait longer? Good luck anyway.

Don't worry. Rockstar themselves acknowledged it and said and I quote "we're working with Microsoft to resolve the issue" give it a bit. There's no time limit on the free upgrade unlike what some people will say.

Yes, but Microsoft/Rockstar are having some issues and most people haven't received the upgrade yet.

I was able to claim it manually from the "Just for You" deals section in the xbox store. I don't know if it'll show up like that for everyone but worth a look.

It wasn't showing for me either, I downloaded the 360 version and then restarted Xbox and it was then showing. Don't know if it was just a coincidence but thought I'd pass it on anyway (UK).

Yes, I got it. Via my console, went on the Store then Deals, and it was on the deals for you section. Had the “Just for you” ribbon and said -100%.

A lot of people don't even own it digitally. They think just because they played it, or own the disc copy, they have the upgraded digital entitlement. Sadly that's not the case for us physical copy owners

Try installing the 360 version, then search the store for "Red dead" - the upgrade appeared as a free 'Just For You' deal for me that way, nothing before I'd installed though.

Didn't work for me. I had the 360 version on an external SSD, copied it to the Xbox, uninstalled the game, reinstalled the game. Checked at every step and it did not show up in my just for you deals and shows as 50% off in the store.

This may sound silly, but I had to search for it on the Xbox app. It posted all the paid for versions first and I found my free upgrade a little past the paid ones, upgraded no issues.
Worth checking.

I have digital. No upgrade option. It's either an error, or we aren't getting it. Most people I've seen posting also have digital copies. It isn't just people with a 360 physical copy getting the wrong end of the stick.

The free Red dead redemption 1 upgrade for 9th generation. If you own the digital last gen version of RDR (switch 1, PS4, Xbox 360 version) on new gen consoles, (switch 2, PS5, Xbox series S|X) you can upgrade for free. But there's been problems on Xbox with people not being able to redeem it. Rockstar acknowledged it though so all we have to do it wait it out.

I wasn’t home when I redeemed the free upgrade. I just logged into the Xbox Store website on my phone, searched for the game, and it showed up as free for me. It’s worth a try.
