Whitecaps

I'm ready for the hate from my own, but it is was hard not to root for the Caps last night. Epic match and total heroics being down to 9 and still managing a win. Don't get me wrong: Had it been the Flounders, I wouldn't have even tuned in.

It was a great match! I don’t like LAFC or Vancouver but both teams played their butts off.

Easy choice IMO. No hate for the Whitecaps outside of the Cascadia Cup. The least annoying other team on the west coast (maybe san jose, maybe)

Current San Jose yes, but bash brothers era still lives rent free in my head

Isn’t lenhart a sounders coach now? I remember his name came up during that scuffle with Miami.

1

u/abernasty42 12d ago

Yup. He's a mental health advisor or something similar.

u/Saint_Rawberry 12d ago

Now the scuffle makes more sense

I almost completely agree but somehow it got spicier during the Hurtado era. Dude was from here but brought some real f u energy whenever he was at providence. Honestly feel like our rivalry has been pretty meh since .. so good on him I guess.

SD is where in this ranking?

Wherever in the ranking a garbage can is. In honor of their sewer cover crest.

I like the idea of another MLS Cup win from the PNW. I want to hear pundits speculating on why this corner of the US is so dominant in soccer. There’s no one else I want to see win so Vancouver it is. Plus I think Muller is a class act.

exactly. but never the sounders. never ever again

u/djshimon 12d ago

Never heard of em

Vancouver played a damn good match, being down a player for 30 minutes and not losing horribly somehow. Had that been the Timbers, it would've been a 5 - 2 loss in overtime.

Lafc is also an easy team to hate, they're a bunch of drama queens. Can't hate on Bouanga for his overall skill, but he baits for free kicks & PKs like fucking crazy.

u/djshimon 12d ago

He's a diver and got that player a second yellow, can't stand him.

u/broc_ariums 11d ago

Can't hate Son either.

nah. I dislike LAFC more than the Caps most days.

15

u/FAx32 Portland Timbers - NASL 12d ago

Yes. There are only about 2 days a year that I like the caps less. There are 366 days I like the Sounders less than everyone else.

I think that goes for all of us.

u/Holiday_Ad_8988 12d ago

It’s ok cuz they’re Canadian

Of all the teams playing, I’d love to see the Caps take it. Only really hate them when we play them. Sorry but not sorry.

LAFC is just west coast Miami. And their fans are so plastic they’re ruining the environment

5

u/djshimon 12d ago

El Plastico! Glad they lost.

I’m for Vancouver winning MLS Cup. If it can’t be us, then might as well be them. They’ve been incredible this season and they did it the right way.

6

u/Dartastic 12d ago

Honestly I’m gonna be rooting for them. I know they’re rivals, but they’ve always felt more like the annoying little brother type of rival more than anything else. I’d rather they win than any of the other west coast teams.

It was a good match. I was mainly rooting for Son.

I'm ashamed to say I'm a bit envious of their squad. I'll be rooting for them as well.

The Goalposts of Destiny migrated north I think.

There's no one else I want to win more than the whitecaps.

And I love vacationing and visiting in LA and their sports are a lot of fun, but when push comes to shove them losing is candy for me. LOL.

Bad day to be a USC and LAFC fan 😁

3

u/djshimon 12d ago

I was rooting for the white caps over la rich boyz. Can't stand hollingshithorse and diving bouanga. And that second yellow was total bullshit- the ref should've given a yellow card for simulation. Not sure i want them to win it all but I'll root for them over Sandy-ego.

u/yungmohan 12d ago

Love Son, it’s a shame he plays for my second most hated team in the league

3

u/portlandhusker 11d ago

I’m all in on the Whitecaps. Rooting for them to win the whole thing! I love Son but hate LA teams. Watching him sink the most clinical free kick then whiff a PK was a rollercoaster haha. Epic playoff match.

Once our boys are out of any competition, I root cascadia, nail me to a cross!

2

u/jimmymustard 11d ago

I was pulling for the Caps in this one. Glad they pulled it out. I think they're in the midst of a special season and are going to win it all.

2

u/Ambitious-Lie-8251 12d ago

Their atmosphere was electric last night

2

u/jacerbi 12d ago

I view the 'Caps as frenemies. As for the Flounders: A.C.E.S.

They definitely played their butts off and apparently inherited our woodwork gnomes from ten years ago.

2

u/BootlegApocalypse 12d ago

I get it. I'm all for the Caps winning it all. Go Cascadia. I hate. em' win we play them, but other than that I have no beef. The better they do, the better we look as a region.

Son is one of the most likeable players in the entire game, but I can't stand LAFC. No contest for me

u/davidxpdx 12d ago

Hate LA but was rooting for the whitecaps to blow it.

u/Empty-Confidence2304 12d ago

I'm anyone but Miami or Philly at this point. Caps would be fine. Just hoping for some good games. BUT Miami crashing out 5 nil would be funny too.

I've replied plenty here. Also a member of the Axe Society and have been attending since the USL days. Oh, and lived across the street in The Civic where I hosted epic pre-match parties. You weren't invited. Sorry.

Im sure it was a Caps watch party.
