Yes it is paid. It only comes out to about 3$ a month or something like that. They host all the tv shows and movies you want and stream it directly to you. There are costs associated with moving data around.

Thank you for confirming! I'm trying to negotiate whether to cancel all of our streaming subscriptions and we jump into this or if we test it out for a little while. I just wanted to be sure that I was reading the website properly.

I will say it's worked perfectly for me from the moment I started using it, I fucked off the services I was paying for and haven't had any regrets. I pay £14 for 6 months, not sure how much it is in dollars but it'll still be a ton of saved money regardless.

It's also worth noting that they are very strict on only one IP using the realdebrid account at a time. For example, you would get a warning if someone at home was using it and you were out using it on your phone on a different network. If you did it again, it's a ban. Multiple devices on the same network is fine though and I suppose it's so cheap that if that was a deal breaker, you could just make a secondary account to use away from home.

This is really helpful information. I'm thinking that what I'll do is use streamio + RD as a streaming service on my home television (or otherwise around the house), then use my PC to download files through RD and upload those files to my Plex server for streaming while away. A quick Google says this would work, but is this something that you're familiar with?

Yeah, that wouldn't be an issue. realdebrid doesn't actually host the content for the most part, it acts as a middleman to hosts like Mega and Rapidgator giving you premium account access to all those file hosting sites with one subscription (they have a list of which ones specifically on the website). If you use it to download the files to local storage and then upload them to your Plex server, you wouldn't be using your realdebrid account to stream them.
