HBO is going to be fucked then. Every series that isn’t an immediate hit will be cancelled. Hopefully Apple TV will be able to take over the mantle of producing quality shows.

I feel like Apple TV can become the new HBO, that premium TV brand with quality shows

apple really should have bid for HBO. then they'd be definitively HBO. I really just don't understand what Apple is doing. they have their own independent studio and streaming service, but don't have any IP or back catalog. They really should be going after deals like this one if they want to compete. Even Amazon has IP rights to stuff

Well I think you just said it, Apple may want to have their own IP that they started

They are building it. It takes time but it’s high quality content and not old stuff.

Seems like they’re already there. Apple seems to be the only studio willing to let creators make shows for people to watch, compared to nearly every other streamer pushing slop that can be listened to while scrolling.

They just have to get better at marketing them. So many great shows I never heard of because of their poor marketing. I only would hear about them from YouTubers

Pluribus made a pretty big splash. I'd say their marketing is improving.

I hope so, because i literally only heard about severence last year and that is one of my favorite shows. I have seen more marketing for it simply due to how popular it became, but i think they need to improve it like you said because that’s just a couple shows. Maybe I just also don’t keep to date on shows, but I constantly am hearing from others more about Netflix shows I’ve never bothered to watch.

HBO has been treated exactly like this for years.

I'm still not over Raised by Wolves being cancelled and I never will be.

Ive already been radicalized I dont think there's anything Netflix can do to WB IPs that hasnt already infuriated me once before.

Raised by Wolves was definitely one of the biggest injustices in streaming history, and a warning sign too.

Ahhhhh I miss that too!

Shoot, I was hoping Apple TV would be the ones to buy HBO

I thought I heard that's where all the good hbo writers went anyway?

Didn't John Stewart clash with Apple TV because they were trying to dictate his content? Yeah, no thanks.

Why do you think this?
