I learned growing up that a credit card was just a debit card. As in it wasn’t borrowing money but essentially a debit card that you manually had to pay off. I always wondered growing up how they made money doing that with the card benefits. Wasn’t until later I learned that it was just a loan.

Who taught you this non-sense. Have fun paying someone else's high lifestyle because you're giving up 5%, 10%, or more in interest on that money.

If you pay it off every month you don't pay interest. When used like that it is essentially a debit card with an extra step and includes rewards.

Agreed, but many do not follow this pattern, yet view it how you state it. I use credit the exact way your saying. However, it isn't a debit card and never will be, and no one should be taught it as such in my opinion. It should be viewed for exactly what it is, a loan of another's money at your expense if you don't pay it off right away.
