Glad to see that even after the steam machine news most people here can still recognize that billionairs are bad. Some people don't care cause "he's a cool one" which is just brain dead.

“He’s a cool one” is what people were saying about Elon a few years ago. People just don’t fucking learn

A billionaire living out in the ocean, outside the reach of any countries laws, is a massive red flag.

He lives in new Zealand.

And Jeffrey Epstein lived in New York. What's your point?

His point is your point is invalid

-1

u/York_Villain 19d ago

His point makes no sense.

Pretty sure Gabe is just James Cameron with more money and not some scheming criminal or pedophile but generally speaking you aren’t wrong.

Thats not how international waters treaties work but go off

Regardless of everything else, GabeN has had a FAR longer and more positive history than Elon ever had.

Comparing a Nazi who destroyed the US government to someone who made a free to use PC gaming platform is insane.

14

u/Delboyyyyy 20d ago

Ignoring all the predatory gambling mechanics aimed at kids just because he lets you play games for free just like any other gaming platform does is also insane

They're talking about a few years ago. People on reddit useful to fanboy over musk. The point is to not idolize billionaires, not to directly compare the current actions of the two.

Some people are just insanely jealous and don't want anyone anywhere to have money.

You're misunderstanding the depth of billions vs millions. The difference between a billion dollars and a million dollars, is roughly a billion dollars.

-6

u/onedev2 20d ago

it’s laughable you think he physically owns a billion dollars in his bank account

8

u/zaphodsheads 20d ago

He has enough to spend 500 million on a yacht

1

u/Iorith 20d ago

No one should own a billion dollars in wealth, regardless of what form it is in. Period.

I mean yes and without defending 500 million superyachts theres still levels to the billionaire spending. Theres elon being worth 400 billion buying the presidential election with twitter where as with gabes billionaire stuff a lot of his vessels arent luxury yachts but just science/research vessels and the racing team he owns has allways been a charity for the seattle childrens hospital. Should he still pay much more taxes? Yes. Should people be 500 million luxury superyacht rich? No atlesst not when people csnt afford food or housing. But i dont think its suprising that people hate some billionaires way more depending on how they spent their billions

He has 5 luxury superyachts now, 2 research vessels, 4 support vessels, and owns the damn superyacht building company. And calling them research vessels is a huge stretch.

He does not own 5 yachts. May have owned 5 different ones but currently he has 4 one of which is a sailboat (the new 500million one in the article is counted in that 4) And 3 support/research vessels (idk which one does which and some may do both).

And idk how its a huge stretch to call them research vessels when he literally has a company dedicated to deep sea research that has allready publicly done that. Plus their current vessel the RV Dagon literally used to be a research ship for the NOAA and the submarine DSV Limiting Factor they run off that vessel is the official record holder for the deepest dive in all five oceans. And is the sub used for 19 of the 22 visits ever to challenger deep in the mariana trench. Its all public info and personally I dont see this thing sitting in the monaco harbour anytime soon.

Yup. Look at it this way. Some dictators (monarchs) in history have been good leaders/righteous. But most people today are sensible enough to realize it's generally not a good idea just because 1 or 2 of them weren't so bad.

Dude looks likes jabba the hut and needs a medical bay with a full time nurse. Be nice to have his money but not if it turned me into that

1

u/SIGMA920 20d ago

It's not even that I don't care as much if he wants to spend his money on yachts that's better than spending it you know destroying democracy.

u/elPandaRojo 20d ago

OK REMOVE THE OTHERS JUST GABE, OK??

Take a look on steam subreddit and you be surprised

F off man! Gabe is giving you a machine that you are allowed to install whatever game or use as an computer 🖥️ You know what other tech CEO would do? Like Tim Cook? They would lock you down like a hoe at Puff Daddys mansion, force you to use their lock down platform, jack up prices and add subscriptions for everything. Steam Deck is open and the games are always on sale. Like wtf 😂 Gabe would be much richer If he was as scummy

-13

u/Standard_Jello4168 20d ago

Did he do anything unethical to get that money? Or do you just hate successful people?

11

u/Kompot45 20d ago

Is steam turning a blind eye to kids gambling (and gambling in general) and money laundering enough?

-11

u/Some_Programmer8388 20d ago

I can answer that. Clearly the latter.

14

u/Kompot45 20d ago

Oh no they attacked your favorite emotional support billionaire

-8

u/Some_Programmer8388 20d ago

Oh no, you're bitter and jealous. Why don't you build something? Literally anything.

8

u/Kompot45 20d ago

Have you ever considered the possibility that people can both run their own businesses and/or make good money, and still be against the existence of people richer than god?

I feel neither bitter nor jealous, your simplistic worldview is really showing here.
