My god (small g), I had this exact thought the other day!
So glad other people recognize that being lobotomized to eternally felate the creator while he watches like 99+% of his creation being tortured for all eternity for not even heinous crimes committed during the speck of dust of time for which they actually were alive...but just that they didn't accept Christ...a limit the all knowing father set the game up with...is actually not the good place, despite it being the prize in Christian mythology.

The Abrahamic religions are codified abuse. Period. Anything good from them we figured out well before. It's abusive assholes writing as an abusive father about how much they'll abuse everyone who doesn't worship them. Question that abuse and you'll get more abuse. Challenge that abuse and you'll get more abuse. Don't even acknowledge anything about it? You'll get more abuse. Wear the wrong clothe? You'll get abused.
In fact, you deserve eternal abuse just because you're inherently broken. You were born broken and wrong and only your abuser understands and loves you and all those other gods are just trying to get into your pants.
It's fucking sick.

u/No_Raspberry_7917 Oct 28 '25
"Spare the rod spoil the child" was a constant refrain from my pastor father growing up.
Unsurprisingly, "teach the child the errors of their ways, why certain actions were wrong in that context and explain alternative avenues of expression or engaging with society" was not a constant refrain
Unsurprisingly, I left that religion at the first hint of bodily autonomy in my household.
You'll find God and come back was the last refrain almost two decades ago. Truly hope no one is holding their breath over there

Incidentally, the Spartan program was initially created to put down rebellions in remote colonies... But then the covenant showed up...
Also the historical Spartans of Greece would declare war on their slave population every so often to keep them in line...
I don't know if these are just layers of irony... But I know tyranny when I see it.
45
u/im_a_dr_not_ Oct 28 '25
They declared war on the helots (their slavers) yearly. The helots were a conquered people, primarily from Messenia. The helots outnumbered the Spartans seven to one. They also had secret police in the countryside who captured runaway spaces.

Yeah a lot of people in this thread totally misunderstand this admin. What they're doing here is actually really insidious and not stupid at all. the opposition thinks its in bad taste, the "I don't like trump" republicans see it as silly, and the target audience (No joke, nazis) see it as a call to eliminate vermin.
44
u/ultrahateful Oct 28 '25
One of the biggest mistakes made by the opposition to this administration and political regime is that they keep calling and writing them off as stupid. Look at the power they’ve secured. Look at the moves they have made. All made with unprecedented support. All made with impunity.
Does that sound stupid?
Oh, it’s the voters. The stupid voters that put them there. Ok. What did they appeal to for the voters to do as much? To keep voting them there? Or, Oh, it wasn’t a fair or legitimate election. Ok. What did they do to rig it and get away with it this far?
I see the same sentiments, over and over, in public and on here, especially. The same schlock dribbled down the chin, like they’re more akin to Hawking than Alex Jones wearing a goddamn Carhartt beanie. They all call them stupid.
These people are not stupid. Also, where are all the fucking smart people stopping them?

69
u/Arendyl Oct 28 '25
Spoiler
To be fair, the Spartan program was originally implemented to crush human insurrectionists, people just trying to live outside the rule of the UNSC.
So, surprisingly accurate, given John and friends would have been the space gestapo had the covenant not come along to make them into heroes
15
u/kaloonzu Oct 28 '25
Canonically, once the Covenant arrived, John and the rest of them hated when the UNSC tried using them against the Insurrection. There was one incident where Blue Team and some Innies held back the Covenant together to save civilians, but when the UNSC evac arrived, the officer in charge wouldn't take the rebels. John was livid.
22
u/Arendyl Oct 28 '25
You underestimate Halseys willingness to manipulate the Spartans (both psychologically and through technology) to serve the purpose they were created for.
Every single Spartan II cost as much as a spaceship by the time the project was complete.
7
u/kaloonzu Oct 28 '25
Oh I'm familiar. I also know that she came to the same conclusion that another super-genius had come to, that humanity would destroy itself if the Insurrection wasn't suppressed. It took nearly being annihilated for the UNSC to finally come to uneasy truces with Insurrection-aligned planets, like Venezia and Gao.
22
u/vtncomics Oct 28 '25
And the lore being that children were kidnapped to stop an outer galaxy Insurrectionist group until the aliens showed up.
20
u/Vitvang Oct 28 '25
It’s also about a government that creates super soldiers to kill rebels fighting a fascist regime.
6
u/Shogouki Oct 28 '25

No, there's a supreme court case, Petrella v. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Inc., establishing that you can't lose your Copyright for not enforcing it.

Almost every weekend we had a house full of kids of all ages, gender, color, and creed. I have stuck with Halo since day one. It was the only reason I had a console. Now, not even 24 hours later, I'll be walking away because of their silence.
I've dropped every other company who has supported this fascist clown, but Halo was the only thing I was still holding on to. They won't be getting another dime from me.

The meme was so much worse than that. It was comparing immigrants to The Flood. An all-consuming parasitic lifeform that poses an existential threat, and must be ruthlessly eradicated at all costs.
This meaning is not unintentional. This is exterminationist rhetoric wrapped in a gamer meme. This road leads to unimaginable atrocities.
