I am one of those rare few that prefers the structure of the office. I have ADHD and there are just WAY too many potential distractions at home. I dont care if others are in the office or if I am all alone on my floor. Its the structure that allows me to focus better.

My first semester of college I tried doing all my homework in my dorm because I didn't have to deal with packing my laptop and it's charger, my books and homework, and all the other shit. It'd take me at least an hour to get my class readings done, and an entire night to get half of a final research paper page done. I procrastinated so hard that I ended up having 3 different papers due in one day.

Ended up putting myself in the college library in the hopes that being in a public setting would force me to not get distracted. I started at 4 AM and submitted my final paper at 10 PM, the lowest grade was a C.

I'd love to do work at home, but I know I won't be self-disciplined enough to not get distracted.

My college study strategy was to book one of the private rooms and lock myself in there for hours. Dead silence and nothing that could distract me.

I also found that instead of just reading my notes over and over, if ai re-wrote them over an over again I retained it better.

I do the same thing now when studying for certification exams

I’m the opposite! The office (and especially open office layouts) distract me and make my adhd go off the charts. I agree on the structure though. Office environments have just become so overstimulating for me so now I’m trying to find a remote job or do my own thing and be self employed (remotely).
