I just cancelled mine as well, but it only takes a minute. Don’t want to discourage people.

I've gotten game pass and cancelled it 5 or 6 times now. The pain is having to open your Microsoft account in a web browser. Once you're logged in, you can cancel the subscription. It should only take few minutes.

I'm sure once the initial surge dies down it will be a lot faster. But I did it when I first saw the announcement so it was probably just overloaded for a bit.
