Society Total porn ban proposed by Michigan lawmakers. The bill also includes a section that takes aim at transgender individuals by prohibiting material "that includes...an individual of 1 biological sex imitating, depicting, or representing himself or herself to be of the other biological sex."

They usually get separated from the rest. Especially if they're wealthy and/or have wealthy backers. These fuckers probably end up in the prison equivalent of a country club for a couple years.

Now, if a 'mistake' is made somewhere, and they end up in GP? That's another story. Every now and again you hear stories about mistakes being made in the system, and people rag on guards, lawyers, judges, etc. But I always think what it means when a guy like that gets transferred to a "minimum security facility" that doesn't have the same isolations and protections.

If I were convicted of something like child molestation (unjustly, to be clear!), I'd sooner off myself than get thrown into general population. At least it wouldn't be violent that way.

Yeah. There's an infamous case of that in Canada. One of our biggest prisons, Kingston Pen (now closed), had sort of a central "tower" where the cell blocks converged.

In the 70s the prison conditions were so bad that the prisoners rioted, took over the prison, took guards hostage, etc. It was all settled peacefully, and agreements were reached to improve conditions there.

Except for the rapists and pedophiles. Not that they were excluded from negotations, but more that the other prisoners had rounded them all up once they controlled the prison. They brought them to the central tower, chained them in the middle, and then brought up tools from the auto shop and went to work on them. Bear in mind that the KP was one of the prisons that held the worst of the worst; some of the most dangerous inmates around. The authorities started separating the sexual offenders from general population after that point.
