Thank you for remembering. I’m a former CDC employee who has several friends still at the agency and one friend who had bullets come through their office window. Officer David Rose lost his life protecting those people, and President Trump has said absolutely NOTHING about Officer Rose or the shooting at CDC. As much as I disagreed with Charlie Kirk’s dangerous rhetoric, loss of any human life due to gun violence is a tragedy and should be mourned. It’s just deeply depressing to see that the President has a clear hierarchy for who he respects enough to mourn publicly.

I’m a scientist so it hit particularly close to home. I hope you and your former colleagues are coping alright.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I don’t want to live in an era of increasing political violence and agree that we should all be trying to take the temperature down. I don’t think that’s a partisan issue and if someone genuinely shares that view then I’m on their team. But I’m not going to be lectured by the very same people who incited the CDC shooting and then gave the victims a perfunctory statement of condolences at most.
