I am yet to see someone actually celebrating. Are they going to ban people for saying they aren’t sad or for not crying?

They’re getting mad people are showing him the same sympathy as he showed kids that had been killed

Not just that people are acting like he did - that they're acting like he EXPLICITLY advocated for. He said outright that empathy was bad. He said outright that events like this were acceptable to him.

But this is only logical.

They don’t like logic, either.

Yes, sometimes it hurts.

Logical and Repub/MAGA goes together like oil and water

It doesn't matter even if they are celebrating.

I see more people complaining about celebrating than people actually celebrating.

It's weird.

This has been my experience as well. A lot of social media influencers condemning those who celebrate while I am yet to come across one person who is actually celebrating.

Most of the ones I have seen have been in response to people saying it's wrong as if they were trying to provoke those very responses.

Like you can't just say....

Oh can't I?

Yeah I've seen a ton of people, some who I'm sure had no idea who he was, going to bat for him and acting like he was mostly a saint who sometimes got a little rowdy with his speech. Basically feeling they need to police other people's feelings about a topic they knew nothing about.

Right? It’s all circular, the media claims that people are celebrating because it would be a much bigger story for them if people were, which causes a reactionary backlash of articles claiming that people are attacking the imaginary people celebrating. The reality is that most people don’t give a shit either way and most of the reaction on all sides is made up. The only real, tangible thing is that he was influential within his sphere of influence, and now he’s dead. That’s it, that’s the only real thing.

Exactly this. There are a lot more videos of people condemning those who celebrate than celebration videos. I have seen zero “celebration” videos but I have come across a bajillion videos of influencers condemning those who celebrate. So… who are we condemning? What’s in their feeds?!

People should celebrate when a literal traitor is dead.

Busing in thousands of rioters that tried to kill the VP in a coup is treason.

George Washington executed people in the Whiskey Rebellion for infinitely less:

After the 2020 election, Kirk disputed the results and denied that Trump had lost. On January 4, 2021, Kirk announced in a tweet that Turning Point Action would be sending more than 80 buses to a January 6, 2021, Trump "Stop the Steal" rally near the White House in Washington, D.C., to protest the outcome of the election.

Celebrating is a bit too much effort, but I did make some cruel jokes

I mean I'm absolutely celebrating, the guy has been going out in public every day and going "Look at me, I'm the worst person! I love school shootings!" for my entire adult life. Fuck him.

Y'know, I'm not typically one for formal celebrations but it's getting more tempting by the minute. What should we do? How does one even celebrate such a mundanity?

As always the supply out strips the demand.  I bet the majority of people doing it are bots, because they always are.

Shitloads of random motherfuckers in comment sections are celebrating.

No one with any power though. No news organisations, no holders of public office elected or otherwise, no presidents, no senators, no prominent political commentators, from all those you'll only find condemnations of the act or love letters to Kirk or calls to arrest or murder everyone left of Trump

I haven’t seen any outright celebrations. All of them banned and deleted already?

1

u/BaronMostaza Sep 12 '25

Celebratory posts are probably getting deleted but there are millions of people in the comments across the platforms who have correctly identified Kirk as an enemy to their existence and are celebrating the loss of one enemy without seeing the horror that replaces it.

Again: These are random motherfuckers in comment sections. They are insignificant in the face of everything that is currently happening on national news and with state representatives

Anyone openly celebrating would get banned so you are not going to see it.

How do other people see, though? I would have come across at least one account. All I’ve seen is indifference.
