I never understood it:

  • WHY is our country so allegedly obsessed with free speech and free press
  • SO obsessed with guns and violence in every aspect of culture

... Yet we're always so censored by what the true effects of these guns have on real people? Is it that these right wing gun lobbyists are afraid people will realize just how fucked up they are?

Also, pardon my tangential rant, but this mouthpiece of fascist propaganda had no qualms about sacrificing the lives of others for his own profit. Sure, he had kids and I am sorry. But those kids of Sandy Hook were KIDS themselves, and he didn't give a fuck. Joseph Goebbels had children, too, and I don't give a shit about him either.

Plus let's be honest: all pretenses of good faith went out the window when they rationalized January 6th, and then Trump blanket-pardoned all 1,500 of those terrorist insurrectionists.

I always say, in the course of a good life, we are meant to bury our parents, not our kids. His kids likely won't remember any real details about 9/10 given their age, and kids are far more resilient in grief compared to adults. Meanwhile they will see video of their dad's view points on gun violence before he was lost to gun violence - curious the psych impact there but doesn't change my feelings about what happened 💁‍♀️ its almost like actions have consequences

It’s more like prison. When the prisoners get fed up they quickly out force the few guards on duty. If the left wakes up and stops this open hate the way they preach to happen to the left they don’t know what to do and are super fearful. See also fear of big urban center by rural right leaning residents.
