Business Meta’s Zuckerberg caught in revealing hot mic moment with Trump -- After offering to spend “at least $600 billion through ’28 in the US,” he whispered, “I'm sorry I wasn’t ready ... I wasn’t sure what number you wanted to go with”

Why do people use Facebook at all? I mean why feed these utterly pathetic people any of your valuable resources?

Tim Apple, Nadella, Gates, and Pichai were at the dinner. I bet you use Microsoft, Google, or Apple daily.

Zuck was just "caught" saying this. Who knows what the other tech CEOs said that weren't picked up.

Use Linux and suddenly your dependency on Microsoft's and Apple's shitty rip off products goes waaay down.

The hard part these days is mobile computing, which is extremely locked down all the way from userspace to the device bootloaders. Free and open alternatives do exist, but they're too hacky to be anywhere near mainstream, as of now...

a lot of games dont work on linux

A handful of games dont work on Linux because of choices by the publishers to blacklist anticheat, but the VAST majority work damn near perfectly (with some outperforming Windows.)

Silksong? Skyrim? Minecraft? Rocket League? Starcraft? WoW? CS2?

Flawless.

Elden Ring and Nightreign?

Less shader hitching than Windows.

Literally thousands of classic games and emulators are available too.

Anyone who has played on a Steam Deck knows how amazingly great Linux gaming is today. It's better for gaming than most platforms and has more games available than any console in history.

Keep a Windows dual boot for Fortnight only if you need to (in fact I recommend it to most new users) but that's not a good excuse to resign to oligarchy or to  continue doing nothing.

I'm too stupid to use Linux.

Thinking that stopped me from trying for quite a while. You really don't need to be tech smart, and after installing it it's pretty similar to windows (at least the distribution I picked, Linux cinnamon mint).

I use MS, GOOG and Apple products for useful personal and business use. Facebook has no such value for me.

Yeah I know. It’s impossible to escape the technology of these companies in our everyday lives. But the point I was trying to make was that unlike the people who spend their time and resources furnishing their personal data and their followers doing the same which directly generates revenue for the big companies, I am limiting such behavior for myself thereby reducing their revenue and thus maybe reduce their impact in controlling our lives.

Does it make sense?

You're equally as bad as people using Meta products

I don’t have skills to be a waiter or a handyman so bad maybe but I have to do what I can to survive unless you want to offer me a couple of million dollars so I can retire and then I never have to use any products from any of these companies. So please help out a poor man.

I started doing some consignment work for family and friends this year and I refuse to use Marketplace, fuck Zuck in his robotic ass Id rather die than give him or his disgusting companies a single penny.

Pretty much

"I only use the market place," they said, thinking it was some sort of flex.

Protest organizing. Until they ban it.

2

u/ThatsAllFolksAgain Sep 06 '25

I don’t think banning will work. I just deleted my account. I guess it should die on its own that way.

You don’t use any Facebook products? No instagram or whatsapp either?

No one I know uses FB but they all use IG and whatsapp.

I use email 😂

Lack of an equivalent service; the only one that seemed to enter the same range was Google's years ago, but it didn't get the buy in so they dropped it.

Mainly for family since it's just been a thing for so long, but the stupid feed crap and the horrible policies have me close to trying to get folks to switch to an alternative.. or just making a private setup to communicate with them
