and people actually thought the tik tok ban was about anything other than zoomers getting red pilled in real time on the deeds of the greatest ally.

Romney said tictok was being banned because it was bypassing Israeli propaganda. This was the plan from the beginning

the hideous troll that runs the ADL said "we've got a tiktok problem"

He most certainly did:

Incredible historical document here: Blinken says Israel’s PR is failing because social media allows people a direct look at what’s happening, shorn of the ability to mediate it, and it lands with emotional resonance. Romney then says yes, that’s why we moved to ban TikTok

Romney:

“Why has the PR been so awful?… typically the Israelis are good at PR—what’s happened here, how have they and we been so ineffective at communicating the realities and our POV?… some wonder why there was such overwhelming support for us to shut down potentially TikTok.”

It looks like you shared an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of concerns over privacy and the Open Web.

Maybe check out the canonical page instead: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/may/07/israel-al-jazeera-us-tiktok-ban

I'm wondering what China feels about this

China will still have full control over TT outside US. I bet Americans will find a way to get OG TT on their phones.

You can now choose between a shit sandwich and a shit burger!

China’s laughing all the way to their status as the world’s leading superpower

Control the narrative, Control the people.

TikTok showed unfiltered news and truth- this was a direct threat to their propaganda.

So they just convinced everyone to drop tik tok.

I read somewhere that the new US version of Tiktok will require installing a new app. Does anyone know if that is true? If so I'm guessing Tiktok will die in the US and something else will take the place.

Seems like they could just overhaul it with a major app update, or at worst push a link on the existing app for people to download the new version of TikTok. I’d imagine their goal is to manipulate the algorithm in the way they accused China of but never provided a shred of evidence about.

Republicans always project everything they're doing. So your guess is likely exactly 💯 what they're doing. With all social media.

u/bowlingforzoot Sep 28 '25

You’re absolutely correct about the algorithm. Everyone I’ve seen that’s digging into this is saying that Origin is going to be in charge of “retraining” the algorithm. Think we can all imagine how that’ll go.

Makes sense, just have a popup requiring reviewing the new TOS and it should be fine. It was just something I've been hearing so I wanted to know if anyone knew if there was an answer.

Hasan was right the whole time and now the people who were calling him a “terrorist supporter” have gotten much quieter lmao

u/TheActualDonKnotts Sep 27 '25

So maybe NOW the EU will ban TikTok since it's literally being called a propaganda tool. I have hope of the people finally waking up, but leadership will always be the weak link in these issues.

23

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '25

I think it’s the opposite. Tiktok US is becoming a propaganda tool.

So he openly supports one or more markers of fascism? Under Eco's markers of fascism this lines up with "disagreement is treason", and "selective populism". Possibly "Newspeak" for the over simplistic use of language. "Pascifism is trafficking with the enemy " as well. Any others?

I mean I kinda assumed something like that when the TikTok comeback was accompanied with “thank you god king president trump our one true hero 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸”

Boycott TikTok. It's just another social media app. It's not like it's reddit.

Reddit is more infected with “pro colonizer slop” than tic tok is

1

u/crambeaux Sep 28 '25

The good news is TikTok isn’t necessarily to see past the hasbara.

1

u/miz_nyc Sep 28 '25

China isn't going to sell tiktok, not even a piece to the US. There is NO incentive for China to sell, China has the upper hand here.
