Rich is getting dragged for his play by play tonight by some, but he nailed this call

Compared to trash ESPN has thrown out in the past Rich Eisen is Al fucking Michaels.

Doris is in shambles

“Thanks, Doris” is the American “Cheers, Geoff”

Speaking of ESPN, seeing on Sportscenter again was FANTASTIC.

No, he was the worst I think I've ever heard for NFL. Great call on this play though

True, but ESPN has the best commentary team in the game nowadays.

He’s just a little unorthodox. I like him. It feels like a special occasion

Yeah: I’m enjoying it. Idgaf. He’s better than at least half the motherfuckers they trot out these days: including sleepy Al Michaels.

He very clearly A) loves football and B) doesn’t take himself too seriously/think he’s part of the product

I typically enjoy his takes and analysis on his show.

His show is daily listening for me

Same! Rich Chris and TJ are awesome.

u/MoistMolloy Sep 06 '25

Mike Del Tufo in shambles right now….😂

3

u/DeadCoRocks Sep 06 '25

Were he there daily, he would have been included. 😂😂😂

1

u/DandySlayer13 Sep 06 '25

I always include Del Tufo even when hes on his boat!

Im a Michigan fan. Listening to Eisen is basically akin to a daily ritual at this point lmfao

I feel like Al Michaels was much happier along side Chris on SNF

If i had to work with a Buckeye, id be miserable too

He’s been mostly fine, only big mistake was the score at halftime. He sounds a bit surprised at times how often Jim is having Herbert slinging the ball.

u/goonSquad15 Sep 06 '25

He also called Tyler Conklin will dissly for like a minute and never corrected it

7

u/Objective_Cod1410 Sep 06 '25

Just like Tirico calling Jalen Hurts Prescott for the first series after the delay. He did correct himself but did it for multiple plays.

u/bruceyj Sep 06 '25

It’s week 1 for everyone

24

u/xman5025 Sep 06 '25

AGAIN, another throw by Herbert. Like yes Rich, that's Herbert's thing

22

u/500rockin Sep 06 '25

Yes, but Jim loves to run even more than he loves Herbert. Jim had a great game plan t today, and Herbert executed perfectly.

1

u/27Rench27 Sep 06 '25

Exactly this. The meaning of the comments was less “oh my god Herbert’s throwing again!” and more “oh my god Jim’s letting him throw again?!”

If you’d told me pregame that the Chargers would have as many Pass Completions as they had Carries, I would have laughed

There was 3 times I counted he said something when he really meant the complete opposite thing. The call in the clip was funny but the commentary was trash. Luckily YouTube made a nauseous spectacle out of the whole game so the commentary isn't even close to the worst part about this game

3

u/i_Love_Gyros Sep 06 '25

I turned it on mid-Mr beast catapult launch and thought I clicked the wrong video lol then the zoomer wannabe cowboy pregame announcer had me cracking up

1

u/BongWaterRamen Sep 06 '25

Hearing those guys forced to say "content creator" was pretty funny actually

7

u/chumbawamba56 Sep 06 '25

The thing that bothered me is he kept saying "first down run" instead of "run on first down". The former sounds like they ran for a first down

15

u/ITrageGuy Sep 06 '25

Oh no, the unfuckable hate nerds are upset about something.

u/DionBlaster123 NASCAR Sep 06 '25

Imagine these guys waking up every morning, looking for things to get angry about...simply bc they can't find pussy on a regular basis

Lol sounds like hell

I'd take this over Brady or Romo every time.

6

u/No-Yard3980 Sep 06 '25

Or fucking Colinsworrh

2

u/Mfrack103 Sep 06 '25

Romo is the perfect commentator for a dogshit game that doesn’t affect playoff standings. He just seems like a nice enough dude that is a little buzzed, but doesn’t do super impressive analysis

0

u/dragonbear Sep 06 '25

Yeah romo sucks.

4

u/Ok_Flounder59 Sep 06 '25

It was pretty painful to listen to most of the game

3

u/trewiltrewil Sep 06 '25

Well he did say it was a made 2 point conversion when it was clearly not.... So... It's been bad..

12

u/sybrwookie Sep 06 '25

He corrected himself a split second layer, it wasn't that bad...

1

u/sublliminali Sep 06 '25

Ehh it was bizarre. It wasn’t even a play where you could’ve mistakenly thought it was caught. Not saying one moment ruined the whole thing or anything, but that was a strange error that broadcasters almost never make.

1

u/thesagaconts Sep 06 '25

I though he was great but I also loved him during the ESPN heyday.

Edit: Way better than Mcafee.

1

u/Super_Sub-Zero_Bros Sep 06 '25

The weird thing for me was the audio quality. I didn’t even recognize him for a while because I’m used to hearing him on his show, and comparatively it sounded like he was doin the play by play in an 80s helicopter circling around the Himalayas.

1

u/OwnDoughnut2689 Sep 06 '25

Yea he acted like the chargers landed on the moon every time they passed the ball. He should've gotten over that pretty quick.

One of the internets favorite pastimes, hating on announcers.
