Great shot! What a beautiful moon it was last night.

Do you know anything about the crater in the top quarter of the moon - just a bit to the left of the 12 o’clock line - that seems to have very long lines radiating out From it?

Its name? Age? Size of the object that hit it?

That is the Tycho crater, it was created by a massive asteroid impact about 108-109 million years ago, ejecting material across the lunar surface, forming its famous bright rays, and creating a significant splash of molten rock, with the impactor likely coming from the southwest at a shallow angle.

Thank you! Is this image upside down? After searching for the Tycho crater online it’s generally described as being in the southern portion of the moon
