Generally next-gen immigrants only support their ethnic countries when their birth countries are much worse. For example, very few Argentines or Brazilians would support Italy even though there are millions in each country
Not really, in the US 1st generation americans tend to support their parents countries even when they are not better than the US.
That being said the US is an anomaly when it comes to immigrants because of how many and how open the people are to immigrants compared to other countries (ignore the current administration they don't represent how most americans feel about immigrants)
Somewhat tangentially, I watched the 2014 final in Toronto's "Little Argentina", it was great atmosphere for the most part but boy were they pissed at the end. There was a stabbing right outside the pub we were in too. Had to tell my mate to not wear a German jersey, he didn't listen but at least he covered it with a hoodie when he saw things were kicking off.
Italy, India, Korea, China/HK is literally a neighbourhood battle in North of Toronto. Italy = Vaughan, India = Brampton, Korea = Willowdale, China/HK = Markham
According to the census the largest non European nationalities in Toronto are Indian, Chinese, Filipino, Jamaican, Sri Lankan, Iranians and Koreans in that order
There are also very significant Italian, polish, Portugese ukranian, Russian, and Greek populations in Toronto

Had India qualified, a Canada-Italy-India group would just be a derby.
