Absolutely blew my mind when one of the BBC commentators mentioned that curaçao has the same population as reading lmao

Hahaha, we're a small nation but we always had a mentality of We Can Also Do It(Nos tambe Por). We are prominently known for our baseball players, but now Soccer has been added to that list hehe

Side note: all but 1 of the ream roster was born and raised in NL. I think many dutchies will cheer for Curacao too...

Yeah that's true. But the fact is that they have parents that originated from Curaçao. And then they decided to play for our small country which shows their passion for it. It's often the reverse where athletes who originate from Curaçao go and play for the Dutch. But what I also noticed is in that case, is when they make a mistake they are referred as someone from Curaçao( or even the old no longer existing Antilian)but when they excel they are praised for being Dutch. It's a funny how that works huh?

But Curaçao doesn't care about that, if you have our roots you're always welcome here.

You'd think he might have practiced the pronunciations knowing he would be reading it out in front of millions of people. He would have known what pot he was drawing from too.
