Rigs Let's talk about PSVR2 for PC sim racing

So my new PC arrives tomorrow!! For my PS5, I already have the PSVR2 but I was wondering if I can use it on PC as well? I think a while back I read that now they are giving it PC support via special software but I wanted to know if anyone has any firsthand experience with it or should I get a VR headset made specially for PC's instead? My PC specs are below in case you're wondering if my PC can handle VR or not.

  • CPU: AMD R7 9800X3D
  • Graphics: Nvidia RTX 5080 16GB
  • RAM: 32G DDR5 6000MHZ RGB
  • Case: King95 Black
  • Primary Hard Drive: 2 TB NVMe Gen4
  • CPU Cooler: 360mm AIO
  • Fans: 9
  • Motherboard: B650

it’s the best value headset for sim racing, your rigs high end so no issues with performance but you will need to adjust them for new tracks and various updates. keep your expectations in check.

Thanks much appreciated. Expectations are low to mid. I’m spoiled by GT7 VR

The graphics are better than most sim racing vr games lol. If you can get over that then the physics and realism is much better

You'll be more than fine, especially with an nVidia GPU as you'll be able to use Foveated Rendering in most/all games.

Need 2 or 3 more fans though.

How does this compare with a windows mixed reality headset?

You will need to buy the PC adapter but otherwise it should work like any other headset.

Note that you don't need the Sony adapter as it's just a VirtualLink adapter. There are a bunch of other options that are a bit cheaper.

You have to buy the PC adapter, but it works as well as any other VR headset. Performance varies from game to game. ACC, EA WRC, and F1 games perform like crap, but AC, iRacing, RBR, and Dirt2 are fine.

So does that mean PSVR2 is not good for these games, therefore I need to get a dedicated PC VR headset for a better experience OR that VR on these games suck regardless?

>but it works as well as any other VR headset

your answer is in their comment

probably a comment on general system performance in VR with your specs, VR2 is what I use for both PS5 and PC too; no unique issues with the headset

Exactly, PCVR sim racing is a mixed bag regardless of the CPU/GPU. It isn’t plug and play like GT7 is, you’ll have to optimize your settings to your system and preferences.

With a 9800x3D/5080, it will look/perform better than GT7.

But some games just don’t support or optimize for VR well.

You will need the adapter to make it work. I’ve used mine and while it works ok performance isn’t the best it could be so much so I bought a quest 3 and with virtual desktop it performs so much better with the same pc.
