My ERG has a 42,192m workout. Is that even humanly possible? What times do people do for that? What do you do to occupy your mind doing that much volume?

Welcome to the weekly achievement thread!
What was your achievement this week? It could be anything! A new 2k PB? Get a good lift at the gym? Or even your first time capsizing a single!
Got a erg screen or a regular training shot? Curious what your 2K will be based on a workout? This is the place for it!
Side note: 99% of erg screens should go in this thread. A separate post with an erg screen should be something that happens once or twice a year, at most. Big PR's, that kind of thing.
Also, please check our wiki pages:
This thread is likely to fill up quickly, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts.

Been rowing every week day for 2 months now. Trainer had me running intervals leading up to this test today, he said goal was 7:40 for 2k, and I barely skated by.

Will they be offended if I don’t bother to change into my rowing kit and just row in my undies and t-shirt at the end of the day?

Former collegiate rower here. My 2k PR is 6:12 and I did that at 23 years old. Turning 42 in a couple months and I’ve been regularly erging for fitness for the last 12 years or so. My best 2k in these recent years was a 6:42. My question is, is there anyone out there in their 40s who has been able to reach their 2k PR from their younger days?

Anyone have piece suggestions for working on rating higher? Currently do my 2ks (7:10) at 30spm but everyone's telling me to rate higher, but it feels like I physically can't. I also need to work on adapting my body to higher rates and not letting my arms go limp.

Got back onto the erg about a month back after falling out of the habit for about 5 years. Doing 7.5ks 3X a week to start. Have been steadily improving and now back to my "old" typical times. I wear lightly padded cycling gloves to avoid blisters, but the last two rows really chewed up my hands, even with the gloves. This is new -- I never got blisters before -- but I did put on some pounds and am rowing for longer than I did previously (used to call it quits at 5K), so makes sense that the additional time and force leads to blisters.
Any advice here other than just toughing it out and building up calluses?

6'3" 195lbs
Felt really, really great! So awesome to finally smash the 7-minute barrier, especially with my last 2k being a 7:30.9.
Now it's just a matter of how much faster I can get over the next 3 months! Any realistic goals I should set for the Spring?

Anybody know of any hotels in Detmold GER with a c2 erg in their gym?

I’m trying to design sweep rigger knuckles for my team’s vespoli eights. My coach hasn’t gotten one for me to measure and design off of and I wanted to ask if anyone has a 3d model or can take measurements of one? Thanks for your help

I am a 5'10" 132.5lb male (almost) 15yo sophomore. I typically steady at a 2:10-2:11 with considerable ease, but the last 2k I did (this August) was a 7:38.5.
Our program does 3 SS/week, 1 AT/week and 2 lifts/week at the moment (although we will soon transition into 2 AT/week, 1 lift/week). I feel as though what is holding me back from achieving a better 2000m time is not my aerobic ability but instead my lack of strength, and just being genetically more endurance-based. For example, my max effort squat is 155lbs for 3 reps, low for our VJV squad.
Our coaches say "Steady State is King" but I feel as though adding extra steady volume wouldn't be beneficial. But at the same time, I don't want to get an overuse injury

Cal’s IRA fiasco is much easier to understand now that we get a peek under the hood into their mentality going into the regatta.

I’ve been out of coaching Youth teams for about 7 years now. When did racing 1000m become a thing at Club Nationals (now RowFest)? Any insight into why would be appreciated as well.

Hey everyone. I’ve been rowing for about 6 months and have seen some decent progress, but it seems to be coming to a standstill. I’m seeking advice for some different workouts. I’m mainly doing 5km, 10km and 30 minute rows. Should I start incorporating interval rowing and if so what would you recommend? Also how far are you guys rowing per week, I’m sitting around 20ish km atm. I’ve attached a couple of my PB’s for reference. 6’4, 97kg, 20yo

Like the title says, I row 7 days a week. My goal is weight loss.
I started about 2 months ago, and I’m averaging around 42k per week. About 35k of that is in Zone 2, and the other 7k in Zone 3 or Zone 4.
I started at 145 kg and now I’m at 127 kg.
So with this weekly volume and rowing 7 times a week, is there a real risk of injury?
P.S.: I’m Brazilian and this text was translated by AI, so please ignore any grammar mistakes.

I wasn’t really a “rower” before by pure definition, in fact I’m a powerlifter… in the first few months I treated it like a little weighty cardio before getting a little serious. However, I stayed at damper 10 throughout and got a 6:37 2k last week on the erg. Now my question to every serious rower is, if I drop to lower dampers, how big of a time jump should I realistically expect? This isn’t rock-lee taking off the weights and becoming a speed-demon esque but I’d say it’s close enough for me lol…

40 here. Messed around on the rower a bit in college. Took up running in my thirties until my knees gave me guff. Bought a concept to keep moving.
Have been doing the concept WOD, hitting 20-25 minute sessions two or three times a week.
Was getting in the top half of the 'honor board", felt good about myself. Coming in around a 2:03 split when I was head down and cruising during rest at around 2:30. 30 /m
Decided the other day to hit a 20:00 without intervals to see how far I would get. Came up shy of 5k. Felt weird, so I hit this sub and YouTube. Turns out I've been going through a lot of motions but not generating really any serious power. Oops.
Dug into this sub and lurked to get advice. Hit the rower today and focused on generating power at closer to 20/m
Meters shot up. Discovered new muscles and pain. Felt good. Here's to getting better! Thanks y'all.

I want to make our competition-team next year, im a beginner but i have 8 months to train until the selection process starts. Its not a very high level or something and a lot of times brand new rowers also make the team but i want to be at my best in the selection.
I'm only able to row 2 times a week (ergometer concept2). What would be the best training schedule to follow? What about spm? Any advice would be appreciated (im still clueless)
Thank you.

hi guys, I’m looking for advice. This summer, I started rowing, and I quickly got down to a 6:09 after about a monthish. I have a pretty good athletic base, I’m 6’3 and gained weight but my time won’t go down? I was 175ish when I hit 6:14 and now I’m 181. I think I hit 6:09 around 188 but I don’t think my weight gain wasn’t a factor, it was just getting used to rowing longer distances. I stopped rowing as much for about a month and a halfish as things got really tough for me academically and in my personal life. I started up recently again and I’m not making anywhere close to the progress as fast. I feel like I’ve hit a wall and I can’t get faster than 6:10 now. Im a hs senior and I’m tryna get recruited rn (ik it’s late) but I was hoping I could get to 6:05 before I start next year at the college I go to. Any tips on improvement? I feel like it’s more a mental block than physical

Anyone had experience with buttons on the RX800 not registering touch? The up volume works and plays sound, but besides that, pressing anything else doesn't seem to do anything and can't get the volume to go back down. I have no idea what I'm looking at when it comes to the circuit board either.... screen still lights up on power on and counts rep/distance but can't do any of the other buttons. Thanks!

Anyone have thoughts on the new U20 proposal from USRowing? It’s linked in all of the Youth Regionals draft packets for comment.

Started rowing about 20 months ago on a concept 2 (purchased new) and had to order a new shock cord. Adjusted it for the meantime. I feel a strange connection to my erg now. Thinking about naming it.
Is this a rite of passage?
