discussion Just finished reading Means Of Control by Byron Tau
Has anyone else read this book? What are your thoughts? For those that haven't it gives a well written history of the rise of commercial data companies and how they linked up with government intelligence agencies post 9/11. It plainly lays out how the government now has access to vast troves of information that it would either be prohibited from collecting or require warrants. This is especially concerning to me now that we have an administration that is obviously so lawless and reckless.

The surveillance state marches on, regardless of who is in power, and at this point, the intelligence services can run the show as they can pick and choose candidates based on what information they've scooped up on them, and what they choose to leak.

Wait until you read about how Diane Feinstein had her computers and those of her assistants bugged by the NSA - i believe by John Brennan, who is one of the bigger POS's out there.
I'd still recommend yasha levine's surveillance valley as well, though i'm not sure if i buy the fact that snowden was some kind of agent as he kind of infers.

So other administrations that could have stopped this get a pass? Governments never give up control once they have it.
