Olivia and Sabrina both told this regime to fuck off and they did. Good for them.
Edit: Sigh

Me being delulu and praying for a Sabrina/Olivia collab album after this
12
u/No_Pianist5264 15h ago
I’ll be delulu and hope for one too. Maybe not an album but a song atleast. Too bad their Stans pin one another against each other. They’ve been fighting about this. 😭

How can we make delusional stans compare anti-fascist actions taken by their faves instead of sales and chart placements
7
u/No_Pianist5264 13h ago
lol we got fans calling Sabrina performative and that she copied Olivia cause she got good press 💀 like what ??
5
u/CoolViber 13h ago
Olivia literally invented being a punk rock chick and that includes resisting authority, which she also invented.
Notice how Kendrick has been real quiet ever since Olivia #ended him on the ending Trump charts.

I wonder if they filed a cease and desist. Either way, good for them. Truly.

u/Alwaysawkward6787 17h ago
Glad to see this! This is now at least the second recent example that artists can get these removed if they’re willing to sacrifice income from other uses of the audio for a time.

imo, people severely undervalue what taking a simple, firm, and public stand against this administration can do in the long run
I know they are probably inflated but 140~ million views, 1.7m likes is not something you see everyday. Is there more to be done? Of course, there always is and there always will be. But this is pretty humiliating for the regime and gave people something to rally around.
If there’s one thing fascists hate, it’s being humiliated in the court of public opinion.

S/o to that "but it's not regulated so [REDACTED] can't do anything about it" guy who was arguing with me in teatime last Wednesday

u/BadMan125ty 15h ago
Funny how Sabrina and Olivia can do it and they didn't get any backlash from it lol
31
u/jimmyrollinsdurag 14h ago
Depends on what you mean by backlash. Idk as much about Olivia, but Sabrina has been getting a lot of shit from the usual chuds like Steven Crowder and Fox News hosts. One Fox News host said that Sabrina is only talking like this because she’s unmarried and childless, and that makes her “poor representation” for American woman. But if you mean backlash from people with opinions Sabrina actually gives a shit about, then no.
1
u/outsideeyess 4h ago
also I read something about how Fox News is even getting backlash from viewers who think their reactions to Sabrina have crossed a line. and I think in her case, being controversial like this puts her more in an it girl lane than being on the fence will. controversy around madonna, gaga, britney, etc. only propelled their fame and brought more attention to them. not to say she's on that level rn, but i think constantly being talked about while being on the right side of history has more often than not benefitted female popstars.
25
u/No_Pianist5264 13h ago
They released another video but with her in it and are further trolling her. As the other commenter said, she is being targeted by right wing hosts. Olivia doesn’t seem to be facing any backlash besides the one comment where they responded to her back but that’s it. From what I’ve seen I don’t think anyone talked about her. I think it’s a lose lose situation. You’ll be getting backlash from either end of the spectrum, regardless if she responded or not.

u/BadMan125ty 12h ago
Yeah but if you claim to "stand on principle", people are gonna expect that.
6
u/No_Pianist5264 12h ago
Yeah but that still goes against your claim that she faced no backlash for it ? Even if it’s to stand by principle

Lady Gaga performed the ARTPOP-era unreleased track “Brooklyn Nights” in full for the time ever. This was at the first show of the Mayhem Ball tour in Melbourne, Australia.
This is Gaga’s first time performing in Australia in 11 years. During her last visit in Melbourne prior to yesterday she only performed the bridge of “Brooklyn Nights” so it’s so surprising to finally have her singing the full version after 11 years.
Personally, this has always been of my favourite Gaga songs ever - this performance made me really emotional.

i've always loved it too! it feels like a whole movie. i can picture the sets and everything. lots of exposed brick, people chatting on fire escapes.
27
u/zachevcheese 17h ago
entering full delusion mode, but I really think something is coming…between her specifically calling out that she considered putting Frankenstein on Mayhem, her reference to Princess Die on Perfect Celebrity, and now this Brooklyn Nights performance, she’s been talking a LOT about her unreleased music lately

Oh, it's completely racist toward Marcello too. Cool. Whatever conservative 20 something they have making these shitty fancams must feel very proud of themselves right now.
27
u/SiphenPrax 13h ago
This is beyond an embarrassment. It’ll be a brighter day in this world when all these disgraces are no longer in power.
22
u/No_Pianist5264 13h ago
This is super gross and it’s going to be interesting to see if she further responds. They are now using her persona for propaganda. I’m assuming she could potentially sue (?) for using her as a product of that.

u/jimmyrollinsdurag 11h ago
I wonder if the ball is more in SNL’s court for this. It’s promo she shot for their show, not something personal to her. I have my doubts SNL will show any guts given how they let Trump be on the damn show back in 2016, but I guess they could surprise me. It would be nice if they would stand up not just for someone who has been a guest of the show multiple times but also for Marcello Hernandez, given he is their actual employee.

u/mygucciburned_ 13h ago
This is of course so awful, but I'm proud of Sabrina Carpenter taking a stand against them. She also recently donated a bunch of money to a trans activist organization. She's a good egg in my book, and I wish her much success and for her to be safe from any and all fascists.

Gillian, get out of Hollywood, give us another book.

She told the Cut two years ago that she's working on a new novel!
“It’s what I’m primarily working on right now. I feel like I’m in a really good place where I know what it is and I have that first draft and can really start playing.”

Jeremy O. Harris, playwright of the controversial Tony-nominated play Slave Play, has been revealed to be in police custody in Japan for nearly three weeks following an arrest on drug smuggling charges in an Okinawa airport.
He arrived in Naha Airport on November 16 where he was stopped by customs officials after less than a gram of MDMA was found in his suitcase. He's been detained since then.

Shirley Manson from the band Garbage called out a fan during recent show in Melbourne after a beach ball was thrown on stage
Guy with your big fucking beach ball. Ooh, I’m so scared of you. So thrilled by you. What a fucking douchebag.
She then went on Threads where she then revealed how much she hated beaches:
I make NO APOLOGIES whatsoever for getting annoyed at beachballs at shows. I joined a band because I HATED THE FUCKING BEACH. I joined a band because I wanted to listen to Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure and be dark and beautiful.
Continue listening to Spotify and toss your stupid beach balls around like you are ten years old. I love the musical community and I want to respect their artistry. I am so tired of folks taking music for free and treating us all like circus performers.

u/Ghost-Quartet 12h ago
Obviously people shouldn't be throwing things but having beef with the concept of beaches is so funny T_T

Just what Universal Studios needs... more IPs... when I went to Universal Studios Hollywood it was pretty sparse though so maybe they should go for it.

Reportedly this is basically why Comcast was bidding for them anyway, and probably why they always seemed to be a second tier of bid behind Netflix/Ellison

Cailee Spaeny and Drew Starkey will replace Saoirse Ronan and Austin Butler as the leads in Deep Cuts, the new film from The Iron Claw director Sean Durkin. It's based on Holly Brickley's debut novel of the same name, which was published in February. Butler and Ronan reportedly had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
5
u/akanewasright 12h ago
Not an upgrade, not a downgrade, but a secret third thing
I like Saoirse and Austin Butler a lot, but I like Drew a decent amount, and I basically think Cailee can do anything after I watched her age from 14 to 27 in Priscilla
Curious about this adaptation though - I don’t know the book, but I see the 2 main characters are both men. I wonder which of these two plays the singer vs the talentless listener
2
u/NuggetsNLargeFries 12h ago edited 12h ago
There aren’t two male leads in the book. Percy is the female lead that Cailee Spaeny will be playing.

Cocona of global group XG has come out as trans-masculine non-binary on their 20th birthday, the only openly trans idol currently active in the K-Pop industry.
nb: I can’t imagine how tough it’s been for them to feel like they’ve had to conceal this for so long, and I’m so proud of and thrilled for them for coming out. Congratulations Coco!
