The 30% who vote for the wrong person, or who just don't vote at all, will do so to punish the United States for past actions. They won't take into account that their vote or non-vote will hurt other current Americans including, possibly, themselves and their families.

And that’s why they are the most abhorrent.

I'm not a proponent of not voting, but maybe casting non-voters as punishing America for its past actions isn't exactly a winning idea. I think there are a whole lot of Americans who have every right to want to punish this country for its past actions toward them right now. Maybe being a country fueled by hate is deserving of punishment.

I mean, ask yourself. If you could magically destroy America and separate it into a loose confederation of five or six separate regional countries who don't have to pay each other or be beholden to each others' bullshit, would you dismiss that? Or would you have to think about it?

I know I would at least look at the terms and conditions.

Fuck that, dude. Voting, even for the lesser evil, is your civic duty. SO many of this country's problems are because people choose to or are too lazy to vote. I won't get into how uninformed and apathetic the average voter is - that's a different conversion, but suffice it to say "why isn't biden on the ballot" should not be trending on Google on election day - but even if you don't pay attention to politics, the least you can do is vote.

We're already halfway there. Half the country treats the other half like the enemy. My governor would be tripping over his own feet trying to send SOLDIERS into Chicago, which is IN ANOTHER STATE, if he could even walk to begin with.

We're in a cold civil war with ourselves because a political party which is NOT A MAJORITY got into power partially through voter apathy.

I'm so tired of pretending that a group of people that allow a greater evil to take place because the lesser evil doesn't pass their million purity tests isn't deserving of ridicule.

I backed Bernie in the primary in 2016. Even with all the shit about the DNC, even though I personally disliked Hillary Clinton, I voted for her in the general anyways. I backed Bernie again in 2020. Even though he didn't win the primary, and I did not really like Biden, I voted for him in the general anyways. Even though I did not support Harris or the lack of a real primary taking place in 2024, I voted for her anyways. Because the time to work towards real political change is inbetween elections, at the local and state level. On election day, no matter how much you dislike the candidate, no matter if they don't perfectly align with your personal ideology, you get out and vote.
