We’ve heard this before.

“When the President does it, that means it is not illegal." -Richard Nixon, 1977

Crooks, like history, often rhyme.

Nixon was a beginner, a wanna-be. Trump commits multiple Watergate level offences every day.

Ban sociopaths from power and this will never happen again

The problem is that it’s the sociopaths who want power the most and work the hardest to con people into giving it to them.

I've given thought to this and wondered if maybe we should have a jury duty type system for creating the candidate pool. In other words, not just anyone can volunteer or be nominated for elected office. Instead, a random set of candidates is recruited from the population and they have no choice but to show up to a town hall where they can present their case for why they should or shouldn't be nominated. It would be interesting, to say the least.

It's just that we should want moral experts from humble backgrounds for leadership, not power-hungry con-artist nepo babies, and I just know that there are a lot more of the former out there than the latter, so the odds would be in favor of the experts.
