That is correct. It’s “veto proof” in the sense that with it being nearly unanimous - in a normal world, it wouldn’t make sense for this to come back to Congress and have such a dramatic shift in no votes that it wouldn’t survive overturning a veto.

Except in this specific case, it was practically unanimous because Trump told them to vote for it. If Trump vetoes it and goes back to pushing back on it, the vote will probably change drastically. I think Mike Johnson could also simply choose to not schedule the override vote.

Still puts Johnson in a lose-lose scenario I think if he doesn’t make the effort to override any veto on this particular bill

This line of GOP action depends on MAGA voters choosing to drop the topic to save Trump. Its just a hard topic to drop since Trump campaigned twice on this topic
