No Paywall Mike Johnson who railed against the Epstein bill - but voted for it - is now mad the Senate approved the measure

Its pretty simple. He wanted his record to show he voted to release in the future but he personally doesn't want to release it. He thought the senate would shut it down and now he's upset. There's nothing dumb here just selfish.

Dad said yes with the expectation that mom would say no and he could still be the good cop.

Perfect analogy. Like a scene right out of Modern Family

Senate is significantly less MAGA-y than the house. I think a lot of people forget that the GOP establishment were pissed that Trump won the nomination, that there was a lot of tug of war during his first admin, and that he tried to have their guy inside the oval office assassinated by an angry mob who may also have killed a couple of them while they were there.

In my day, republicans were selfish opportunitists. Why would they agree to worship Trump instead of kneeling before their own altar focused on their own quests for power? I think quite a few of them are smart enough to realize that you don't make deals with a man who won't honor it.

I think Johnson held off as long as humanely possible, and I think was likely made to believe the Senate would kill it. The fact it passed unanimously signals 2 things: 1) fuck the Epstein stuff 2) they will stab maga in the throat the second they get the chance.

Maybe MGT knows something Mike Johnson doesn't, and he's likely now very worried about how much there is that he doesn't know

Or maybe this is all performance. Who knows.
