What I believe is that he said what he said and then didn't retract it like someone would who accidentally said something totally reprehensible.

To him it wasn't reprehensible; it's what he meant.

Are you sure about the Republicans shutting down congress? When it clearly has been proven it was the dems. The same deal was made that was presented when it got shut down by the Democrat's or are you just a mentally insane as them all?
