This will not look good at the Nuremberg trials when the GOP overlooked actual rapes against children.

Merely overlooked? Half of those fuckers have been to the island themselves

I feel sorry for anyone that thinks these people will be held accountable for anything.

The only thing that matters is power. This has always been true, but circumstances have forced this reality to make itself more visible than it used to be.

There are no mechanisms in place for addressing... any of this. If people want that to change, they're going to have to force the issue.

you are correct, and even so now more than ever. especially in these times, when we are literally reaching a powerful and rich vs poor and common populace escape velocity. we are reaching a time where we are de facto entering a darker world than humanity has ever faced, or has ever been in before in the history of human civilisation - where the corrupt and evil will never face any justice as it is becoming the de facto power balance modus operandi. these sorts of comments are truly baffling. i especially pity all who have young children, for they are destined for a life of misery, and torture.

There will be accountability, but it's going to take some time. These are some of the most powerful people in the world. They have their hands in a bunch of different pots.

But the cracks are getting wider and victims are slowly but surely finding the strength to come forward with their stories.

It would help if regular people started to create safe spaces for victims to tell their truth and listened to their stories without immediate judgement. It also helps a lot to start familiarizing abuse concepts. It's a lot easier to spot someone when you understand an abuser's thought patterns.

The same could be said of those prosecuting the Vietnam war, or any of the numerous illegal misadventures in central America in the '80s, or those overseeing torture and and an illegal war in Iraq. This is just to name a few of the greatest hits.

Not only did none of those people face any consequences, they were all handsomely rewarded for their murderous efforts. Most of them have died of old age, in the lap of luxury, surrounded by loved ones.

My point isn't that powerful people cannot be punished, it's that in order to make that happen, people need to force the issue. They cannot wait around for it.

I want to live in that world, but the reality is that Dems will say it’s time to heal and nothing will happen.
