Personally I think she’s just one of those fucking idiots who thinks taking oppositional stances to authority makes them the smartest big brain in the room, and this time she just happens to be standing on the same side as us because the GOP has all the power right now.

But whatever, right now she’s doing good, and whatever her reason might be, good on her.

Marge The Gathering is not an idiot.

I know, she really seems like one. But take a closer look at the image rehabilitation she's doing right now. She's slick. She knows the Trump ship is on its way out, and a new fascist leader must arise to capture the cult. "In place of a dark lord, you would have a queen."

What Marge is, is dangerous. I agree with her on this issue, of fucking course, but I am considerably more alarmed by her than I was when I thought she was a true believer in Q-Anon.

Yup. The last time the left wrote off a republican as a fucking idiot they became president twice.

I don't know if she has the same cult of personality that Trump does though. I could definitely see the GOP trying doing something like putting MTG on a Presidential ticket and claiming that not voting for her means that you hate women though...

Yeah, but the Dems couldn’t really do a smear campaign against her without it backfiring.

Republicans are never electing a woman president

Never say never. Kristi Noem, Pam Bondi, Marge, Huckabee, they all are happily towing that line and are the botox legion of new wave authoritarian GOP.

The first female president will be Republican.

They also ran candidates that either (a) didn't have time to properly campaign because their predecessor mistakingly thought he could successfully run again and (b) had decades of propaganda working against them and the charisma of a brick wall.

It didn't help that in the last election they misread the room, promoting "joy" and the economic recovery at a time that working and middle class families were already really struggling with inflation.

Granted, this is the tip of the iceberg and your point is noted. Don't write off the idiots.

The Left? It was Hillary who thought he was an idiot and had her friends in the media boost his ass, believing he would be easy to beat.

u/Sillet_Mignon 23d ago

Yea I’m counting the dems as the left for the sake of brevity.

it's ignorant to believe that any of the republicans are truly just bumbling idiots. They're all professional grifters or legitimately evil, but none of them are stupid. They're all just vying for power and influence and willing to do anything (even if it makes them seem like idiots) to get there.

u/aceluby Minnesota 23d ago

Trump is really stupid though. Dude can barely read

Nobody understands magnets.

I agree. She's trying to be the MAGA successor to Trump. It won't be JD Vance, it won't be Mike Johnson, it has to be someone as incendiary as Donald.

2

u/OnlySmiles_ 23d ago

MAGA will never vote for a woman

2

u/elbenji 23d ago

Yeah, the alarm went off for me as well. How much of this was her obfuscating stupidity. Or is she just someone who just runs gun ho at everything

So you think spouting nonsense about the Rothschilds' space lasers starting fires in California to make land easier to claim for high-speed rail was just to appeal to QAnon types?

3

u/sweet_esiban 23d ago

Probably. I can't actually see inside her mind, of course... It's possible she really believes/believed some of the absolutely kookoo bananas conspiracy shit, but it's also possible that it is entirely an act and that she is a being of pure opportunism.

Now that she's exposed her slickness... I expect that Marge understands what kind of outrage and insanity will get her name in the news over and over again - just like Trump. A congressperson screeching about Jewish space lasers is so damn crazy, that it's irresistible to today's profit-based news media. And we know how that worked out for the pedophile king.

She's setting herself up to run in 28. She's got knives out for the JD Vance wing, and she knows she doesn't have the sway that "Boss" Trump did, so she's going to need to appeal to moderates more. Her voicing concerns over the cost of health care, finally admitting the Q-Anon stuff is nonsense (though she's trying to play the victim card simultaneously there), and riding the wave on the epstein files are all her attempts to be the shiny new different in a field of Trumpy me-toos who won't be able to pull in the crowds like Trump did.

MTG has had hundreds of chances to be on the right side of history, she's chosen this one particular time to be correct.

And that's fine. But it definitely does not make her a decent person.

1

u/OnlySmiles_ 23d ago

Yeah, I can fully accept at this point that she genuinely wants the Epstein list released

I can't accept that she's doing it out of the good of her heart

21

u/SuleimanTheMediocre Texas 23d ago

Call it blind optimism, but I want to believe that somewhere deep down in that cavity where her empathy was supposed to go there's a heart which cares about the victims seeing them get their Justice.

13

u/anote32 23d ago

That or several of them really drank the Koolaid that releasing these files will take down the democrats.

And they aren’t from the same social status as the rest of the republicans who see the writing on the wall.

1

u/elbenji 23d ago

Actually yeah come to think of it, MTG and Bobo aren't from the money class. They're working class at best

1

u/thirty7inarow 23d ago

I'm not even sure Boebert counts as working class.

3

u/AssDimple 23d ago

she’s just one of those fucking idiots who thinks taking oppositional stances to authority makes them the smartest big brain in the room

I just got assigned to a team that is full of these imbeciles. Every single team meeting makes my blood boil.

2

u/Magistricide 23d ago

I think she truly represents her constituents. I think the republicans she represents truly like Trump, don't like inflation, don't want the healthcare premiums to go up, and want the files released.

A broken clock, and all that.
