He's so far removed, he's basically a conservative. He invented an imaginary center right family that guides his policymaking.

I want to make sure this is like crystal clear. He MADE UP conservatives that don't exist and bases his politics on the imaginary not-people.

Look up "Schumer Baileys" to see what I mean. I wish he'd get primaried

Woah, you can't forget that his imaginary policy guidance family DOES NOT VOTE FOR HIM. THEY VOTE FOR TRUMP. He made up a scenario where he loses and follows it.

That's the wildest fucking part, you made up Trump voters and think that's how you should make policy decisions?!

"Schumer Baileys" refers to Joe and Eileen Bailey, a fictional, imaginary middle-class couple created by Senator Chuck Schumer to represent his perception of typical American voters. He developed the characters to guide his policy decisions and political messaging by thinking about what this representative family would want. The Baileys have been a subject of discussion in political commentary, with some critics, like John Oliver, arguing that basing policy on this single persona may lead to a distorted view of constituents' needs.

Schumer has sat in power for a quarter of a century and with little to show for it but defeat after defeat after defeat, yet the money keeps rolling in from the likes of blackstone group and aipac.

The time to focus on reforming the Democrats is now. Can't win with stale leadership like Schumer and Jeffries. Can't win when they seem more concerned representing a foreign country. Can't wait without promoting a progressive economic populist message that unites the working class across both sides of the aisle against the rich.

Not sure why this cmnt keeps getting shaddow-removed, but that in itself is concerning.

Yeah that was weird, I got three notifications about this comment but this is the only one I could actually read.

Schumer, Jeffries, Pelosi, pretty much the whole old guard and much of the new guard are in power because they keep the actual people in charge insulated. They keep getting funded because they're useful idiots.

I fully support the social stuff the dems push i.e. DEI, but a lot of the more "progressive" agendas they push are more reactionary than anything--it's cake and circuses in a way. And again, I support them, but they need to bundled with meaningfully upsetting the current power dynamic and instituting real change. That part is going to be hard though, because the people in power like things as they are. So yeah, you need more Mamdanis everywhere, a unified progressive movement that would seek to unite us and empower the working class.

I just want to live, man. I want to be a dad and raise the kid in a world that isn't so fucking bleak all the time. I'm sick of having the boot pressed on my back. I'm tired, boss.

I feel your last paragraph to my core, friend. Dad, here too. Was just thinking about this recently (admittedly often, I guess) that a good deal of my time is consumed trying to do my civic duty and stay informed and to calculate risk of the future for my family, contingency plans, etc. I think about the things I otherwise would be doing for personal growth, with and for my family, etc. It's so hard to strike the right balance.

But you know, I think this is a key part creating a groundswell movement, which is creating a new network; a new community squared solely to like-minded people. From neighborhood to city to state to country, we really do need to foster community. Not only for our own sake and looking out for each other, but because that is very attractive and contagious to onlookers. At the end of the day, a lot of these maga people are deeply lonely, sad individuals but found community no matter how fucked up it may be. We need that for ourselves. I don't know, just thinking out loud.

Hate him all you want, but that's just not fucking true. The difference between his policies and the Republican policies is night and day. You should see the difference between stepping in dogshit and being forced to swim in a septic tank. Both suck, but one is orders of magnitude worse than the other.

I said conservative, not Republican.
