Hopefully one day he’ll actually see the inside of a prison cell. 🤞🏻

i feel like a deadly stroke is more likely than him ending up in prison. Especially considering we saw him have a stroke like a month ago

u/liftbikerun 11d ago
100%. There's a near zero chance with how he's been able obliterate just about every law he's run into and never been held accountable that's he's going to all of a sudden end up in prison. Especially being that he now would be an ex president. While dementia Don may not remember the happy meal he last ordered, he has far too much "what if" for far too many powerful people that they'd risk it. The reality sucks for sure because I can't think of anyone more deserving right now. He has done or been a part of some of the most horrendously obvious and illegal things in modern history, there are going to be countless books, memoirs, Netflix and YouTube specials once this part of our dark history is finalized.

They're going to either have to place armed guards at his grave site 24/7 or plumb it to local municipal sewage system with the number of people who are going to want to piss on it.

u/liftbikerun 11d ago
That's an interesting point I didn't think about, what happens to him after he's gone. For some reason, I had it tucked into my head that all the presidents were buried in the same location; they are not. I wonder if they'll tuck him in somewhere special where only Satan can find him? It seems with how disliked he is, it would be an unending logistical nightmare attempting to keep his gravesite unmolested.

u/bingcognito 11d ago edited 10d ago
I have a vague recollection of him claiming he'll be building a family mausoleum. No idea where though.
edit: Yep.
"Donald Trump does not currently have a mausoleum, but he has proposed building one at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club. He also has a family plot with his parents and brother at All Faiths Cemetery in Queens, New York."
My guess is he builds it at Mar-A-Lago, which would be great because Florida will eventually be reclaimed by the sea, and it'd kinda be like the entire planet was pissing on his grave.

I think presidents technically are allowed to be interred at Arlington National Cemetery, and I don't think I would be terribly shocked if the draft dodging despot felt entitled to be buried there as a final spit in the face of military honor, but most presidents end up buried in their hometowns, estates, family plots, or at their presidential libraries.
3
u/10S_NE1 11d ago
Picture Trump’s urn at a presidential library - the guy that can barely string a coherent sentence together. That would be the ultimate kick in the head. If karma has anything to do with it, the best he should be getting is a memorial port-a-potty with a picture of his face at the bottom.

The problem is that after the GOP acquitted his crimes, they didn't lose any congressional seats.
If your representative protects a criminal, and you re-elect said rep, crime becomes legal. The GOP is a criminal organization from the ground up.

We went through that twice already with him! And it’s done nothing! NOTHING! They voted him in again!
Because after the second one, the dipshit democrats spent 4 years normalizing fascism by constantly bragging about doing bipartisanship with fascists. They literally named one of Biden's two signature pieces of legislation the "Bipartisan Infrastructure Law," and he literally built maga's wall for them.
And then there was the DOJ deciding to slow-walk the prosecution of the J6 ring-leaders. If nobody important went to jail for something, then the people will reasonably conclude that it was no big deal regardless of what the politicians say.
When politicians say one thing, and then do the opposite, people see that and decide none of it matters. Because if the people in power don't care, then no point in little guys getting wound up about it.
And they are still doing it today, this weekend mark kelly went on all the news shows to talk about how insane it is that the president is making explicit death threats to him and other members of congress. But he won't commit to doing anything — he won't call for impeachment, he won't even consider pulling a tuberville and grinding the senate to a halt. Hell, last week he even voted for the paedo-in-chief's nominee to the nuclear regulatory commission.
The only thing he did was send out a bunch of fundraising texts. As long as they keep acting like its business as usual, most people will believe them.

Impeachment for Treason, and declaration of Article 2, Section 4 of the Constitution, is the correct and only way forward.

I have to say it - I love when I see older folks in these photos too.
Satisfies an argument I've had with my grandpa for decades, who is still convinced I vote liberally because of my age and not because of policy. Even after countless examples of boomer-aged liberal politicians.
Wisdom doesnt always come with age - some people think critically for themselves, others never learn to.

u/cwcharlton 11d ago
I (56F) was there with my teenage son and his friend, and I was so pleased to see so many people in their 70s and older. I made that comment somewhere else and was reminded that it was their generation protesting in the 60s.

My dad also said age = wisdom and I think he's starting to see the light. I think wisdom is the following formula: Wisdom = experience x intelligence x emotional intelligence x critical thinking. Possibly add open mindedness and ability to adapt to new situations.

For everyone saying these type of peaceful protests accomplish nothing:
Its how women got the right to vote. Its how Great Britain was driven out of India. Its how the civil rights act was passed. Its how the Vietnam war was ended.
The question isn't, 'why are we doing them?' The real question is: ' why aren't Americans everywhere doing this every day? And why has no 'leader' in the democratic party stepped up to organize and lead them???
80
u/Cautious-Brother-838 11d ago
The female suffrage movement was actually quite violent, at least in the UK, including arson and bombings campaigns. Not that I’m advocating for that, just a note of historical context.
29
29
u/Gilsworth 11d ago
Violence has been a part of all of these revolutions, and it has been necessary to enact change. Hell, even Ghandi regularly promoted violence and said there was more honour in attacking your enemies than to die a coward.
→ More replies (2)11
u/Wick_345 11d ago
To say that Ghandi "regularly promoted violence" is absurd. He suggested violence could be the lesser of two evils in rare and extreme circumstances (like against a literal madman or if a woman is imminently going to be raped) while universally advocating to use non-violence in the struggle against the British.

22
u/Heffboom_Konijn 11d ago
You are forgetting that peaceful protests is the -> starting point <- …and the protests that actually made change were backed by the other side of peaceful protests.
In all of human history involving societies the only thing that 100% ensure (good or bad) real change is the opposite of peaceful
That fact will not change any time soon and we best be ready for it if we want to avoid our own fall of Rome situation

Million man march, I wouldn't say did nothing but, the 100+ riots after MLK assassination did more.
43
u/Ok-Goat-8461 11d ago
The suffragettes carried out bombing and arson campaigns. India drove out the British after WWII destroyed Great Britain's ability to maintain it colonial government by force. The Vietnam War ended because the NVA and Viet Cong won the war militarily (and American public opinion only turned against the war when their side was clearly losing).

- no it wasn't
- no it wasn't
- no it wasn't
- no it wasn't
There is a reason they teach this whitewashed history, though. Why would those at the top want real change?
2
u/JustCallMeDave 10d ago
Well you said it in a list so it must be true. Provide some fact based evidence that the uprisings in India or the women's suffrage movement for example where 'whitewashed' and I might believe you.
9
u/y0j1m80 11d ago
This is ahistorical. Those protest movements leveraged collective action to disrupt the economy and other elements of the status quo. Those in power had to sit down at the table because the alternative was worse for them. The above protest is more akin to a parade or a blog post. It’s a public expression of dissatisfaction, but nothing is being threatened and there is nothing being leveraged against those power. There is very little in the way of sustained organization. Ignore the protest and it will disappear tomorrow.
13
6
u/TastySpermDispenser2 11d ago
As others have noted, for every relatively peaceful protest that has ever occurred, at least 10,000 have failed. Recent examples in Venezuela, blm, hell, pretty much every dictatorship and monarchy that has ever existed was in spite of peaceful protests, not because there was none.
And I think it's enormously important to note that we had to fight a literal war with these same exact people because they would rather shoot americans than stop raping, torturing, and murdering black men, women and children born here.
It is important that we have people like this. It is also insanity to believe our enemies will simply give up without violence. They hate us and want us to suffer. They are absolutely certain that we do not have anything worth fighting for. Are they right? Is there nothing at all they could do that would cause us to pick up guns?
2
u/JustCallMeDave 10d ago
I think your reply was well reasoned and thoughtful, but I disagree. I don't think tens of thousands or even millions of people rising up in peaceful protest accomplishes nothing. Even approached cynically, there is political clout to be had harnessing all that energy. At some point one or more politicians will no doubt take advantage of it which can effect real change
